| ZX-10 Racebike vs 1000RR Racebike in AFM Well had my first decent duels in the Open GP and the Open SB races with a ZX-10R arcebiek see link for details on Mods: ZX-10R Racebike
The riders, Dennis weighs about 120lbs--he is tiny--I weigh almost 2X that
I caaght up with him in the Open SB race as he wasnt willing to carry similar corner speed in some of the more treacherous Sears Point corners (namely T2, T3, T4)--I was running 1:38:6's catching up to him--he was running 1:43s.
One reason that I was having a hard time getting by him is post-corner that ZX-10 hauled ass--BUT--It wasnt any faster than my RR w/100 more pounds on it----
I finally got him on the brakes going into T7---
BUT--I would be very concerned about a ZX-10s alleged 10 more HP and 20 less pound is race trim---not to mention they break all the time

| Re: ZX-10 Racebike vs 1000RR Racebike in AFM Good deal!
One of my students last week was on a ZX-10 and was only in the class because it was his first time at Trackoholics (a requirement without a race license). During the day it became apparent that he was a pretty good rider and as we got into some of the later sessions, I let him go around me and then followed him for a few laps. I didn't even know what the ZX-10 looks like and thought he was on a 600 until we got onto the straight and he would take off every time. After I found out what kind of bike he was on, the next session I made a concerted effort to stay with him (on my whimpy RC). I could easily catch him on the brakes, but I was interested to see what was what, so after a lap or two I followed him onto the straight with a decent drive. By the time we got to the braking markers he had about 3 lengths on me (he is probably about 20 pounds lighter than I am and is around 5'10").
It's a fast machine no doubt and in the hands of a serious racer would be another story altogether, but all of this straight line HP stuff is very overrated . . .

| Re: ZX-10 Racebike vs 1000RR Racebike in AFM Nice job! ZX-10's haul ass for sure. Abtech, there was another rider in the advanced group that day on a ZX-10 (orange) that would absolutely fly past me on the straight (and he was too good to try out brake). I couldn't believe the power he had. He told me later that he was shortshifting a lot to keep the front down too. Looks like the Gixxer 1000's have met their match!

Is the new CBR1000RR faster than a GSXR1000(stock vs. stock)?

| Re: ZX-10 Racebike vs 1000RR Racebike in AFM During the endurance race Saturday I was talking to Jeff Tigert's father. Jeff is the AFM 2004 Number 1 plate rider and a Honda Test Rider. Dave Stanton took over the number 1 plate this year as of yesterday.
However, his dad said that Honda outfitted him with a CBR1000RR with 195 HP. He called it a "backdoor" factory bike. |

FYI---per Ken Hill, set up the geometry as "flat as possible"---mine is 10mm higher in front than stock via the Ohlins forks--rear ride height is stock---but I am running slicks that are 6.5mm taller than a 180 |

| Re: ZX-10 Racebike vs 1000RR Racebike in AFM Ken is awesome with suspension, he helps me a ton with mine when I am having issues. I was not too impressed with the ZX10 to be honest. I rode it and it felt faster than it was because of all the vibration and how "chattery" the front end was. There was an orange ZX10 at a track day I did at thunderhill at the beginning of the year on GSXR1000 and it was not any faster than my Gixxer at all! To be fair, I do have an aftermarket pipe and he was stock but I would actually catch him coming out of 12/13 and then again out of 5.
