| Trackho loses FP Cherry Yesterday the clouds stayed away and there was a great day of racing for AFM round 2 at Sears Point.
For those that don't know, the premier race for the AFM is called the "run whatcha brung, go fast or go home" Formula Pacific race.
Trackho rode FP for the first time and was moving forward the whole time. This is a pretty big deal as FP is based on getting around the track fast enough to keep the leaders off of you the whole time. Trackho was 1 of 2 yellow squidplates out (I think) and had several experts behind him by the end. Now, clean up that nasty-assed bike dude.
Michael Earnest had a great battle with Stanton for about half of the race before he dropped back and Stanton was able to gap him a bit pulling consistent 1:40.xx's and take the win (with a best lap time of 1:39.xx on lap 8 or 9 ).
The other excitement was from Ken Hill on the warm up lap. The rumor was he had a rad hose come off and he crashed the hell out of his (I think) CBR 1000. If it was a different bike, somebody correct me...

| Re: Trackho loses FP Cherry Ah shucks guys
Actually it was ALOT of fun---NOT to brag but I just found out I got top novice in the other two races as well. In AFM the novices run withe the experts in all classes. The OpenGP was particulary interesting as I was worked from FP--and the races were 30min apart.
Thanks to LTL for the pit assistance--I think hes "got the racing bug" again
F40--9th/48--Top Novice
This race was hialrious--I was in 5th trying to pass for 4th--got run off into the cones--lost like 5-6 places--caught back up/passed these guys--ran it off track in T4 (too soft comp rear tire) lost the same 5 places again--then repassed all but a few guys again--here is the ZX-10R(yellow w/the little guy on it) that I have to pass 3x--it was pretty funny:ALOT of work that race
OpenGP -12th/56--Top Novice
Formula Pac--30th/36--Humbled newbie--but I did start last--one of the "experts" was so pissed when he got passed--it was funny

| Re: Trackho loses FP Cherry Great news
Starting 56 bikes for a club race sounds like a cluster f$ck to me. Is this a single wave start? Damn sounds like a WERA 8 hour endurance (the last one I ran started 83 bikes in one wave).
At any rate, welcome to the jungle . . . |

| Re: Trackho loses FP Cherry Maybe you would have won if you didn't ride around with your skirt waving in the wind. What, you runnin' #5 this year or something?
Congrats, though. I also noticed your buddy didn't do too badly on Sunday. What happened to him Saturday? |

| Re: Trackho loses FP Cherry Abtech, I believe one of the races, Formula 1, had roughly 80 people start, 1 wave.
Here are the rules: Formula I allows two-stroke engines to be from 251 to 500cc, four-stroke multi-cylinder engines from 551 to 750cc and four-stroke twins from 651 to 1000cc.
So...I think you see why. |

| Re: Trackho loses FP Cherry I watched the race from the grandstands. Great race by the way Trackho! Totally impressive!
I overheard a few people in the stands that I guess had talked to Ken Hill as he was walking back to the pits (not sure about the source) but he was saying it wasn't his bike that blew the radiator or oil. It was some one elses bike and Ken just crashed on his own. Did a Wile-E-Coyote going down into the carousel? Dunno where the other bike went. |

Congrats, though. I also noticed your buddy didn't do too badly on Sunday. What happened to him Saturday? | Heres his report, his 195HP RR was having "issues":
Fontana Report
Friday morning we throw a new set of tires, my first new set in a long time and immidiately i dip into the 28's. I am feeling confident going into qualifying that afternoon and it pays off. I get a good tow from Jeremy Toye on my hot lap and rip off a 27.6 followed by another one. That shot me up to 10th in the session but since I used up my medium in the first 15 min of the session I just watched my number drop down the board. I ended up 15th, one tenth of a second in front of Kurtis Roberts. I looked at the trap speeds and I went 168mph vs. kurtis at 179mph. Thats when I knew something was wrong. Saturday after a poor morning qualifying I get bumped a few more spots down to 17th but I notice the bike is not revving as fast as it used to. I go straight to the dyno. I left there scratching my head wondering how a $20,000 kit motor makes 162hp. I grid up thinking I'll try my best and hope the motor doesn't pop. I get a crap start and as I funnel through the turn 3 area, another rider comes around the outside of me and stuffs under me as I am making the transition into the corner. Unfortunatly I get knocked off taking another guy with me ending my day in a few moments after the green flag. I was soo pissed I was allready to head up to sears to maintain some F-P points and get some time before the national there. My crew calmed me down and I stuck it out for Sundays race.
Over night we changed the clutch and spark plugs hoping this would help, but after all that sunday morning it made 162 on the dyno. My AFM bike thats there for a backup was another option, but on the same dyno it made a whopping 150hp so I knew I was stuck. Gridded up and got another horrible start and tipped toe through that same turn ruonding out the first lap in 28th. I just started picking guys off and with a little luck I hope to move up. With a few guys ceasing out I moved up to 17th, but the next pack had too much of a gap for me to go after them. I figured I should just finish, which I did, but I am very dissapointed. I know when I get a good running bike under me I will give tose guys hell so I am hoping the engine damage is minimal, we will find out in the next few days. Thanks for all the support everyone has given me, and I promise I will show my potential soon.

| Re: Trackho loses FP Cherry Good job this weekend Ho!!
A little too tired to make the SBK grid huh?
If the races are spaced better next month I'll join you in FP (contingent on me dropping another second off my lap time).
I can't believe the bad luck Ken is having this year, I was looking forward to seeing him battle w/ Stanton again this year. W/ Tigert back in form and Earnest picking up the pace there would have been some good action. I guess it's up to you now. |
