| Da Trackho Report NUmba 6 Da TrackHo Report Numba 6 Nothing Particularly Great or Bad---Just a solid race weekend
Open GP--I had a decent grid postion on the third row, but right next the the wall--Bummer--the start was pretty lame, but maybe only a couple of guys got by--right when I thought cool we made it thru T2 (we might live)--Black Flag--Dayam anothe "on the wall start"--this start I nailed....until I mis-shifted into second gear--fuuuuck--10 guys blow buy me, including a couple novices--****--I gather up my mojo and get to work--got held up a few laps passing folks---then I was in no mans land--finally started catching up to yet the final novice--the race gets red flagged as some SVer highsided himself to pluto coming out of T7.
15th place (won some VP gas coupons) and I did NOT get Top Novice, the guy in front of me did--humble pie time--but a reasonable salvage given the crap start. Fastest times were in the low 46s--again no awfull--not great(fastest lap time of the leaders was a 1:40). What I did notice was the class got ALOT more competitive with Raab and a few other jumping onboard.
FP--I was gridded pretty far back, and decided to let the real FPers like Raab (gridded behind me) get by. I might have started in last, not sure. I pased some dude on a goofball bike, and an R1--at least I am not last any more. Them there was the white Suzuki that actually took a little work to get by some where around lap 4 or 5. I kept motoring, thinking that I could pick off a "novice on a Ducati" ---didnt happen, around Lap 7, my right hand went hella numb, and I felt like I was riding like absolute shite--but maintained my position--not sure exactly where I finished(cuz apparently one or two behind got meatballed), but it wasnt last. Then I looked at my lap times, all 1:45s and low 1:46s--Dayam pretty cool--my fastest lap(fastest lap time of the leaders was a 1:39.3)--was the second to the last with the "numb hand syndrome" interesting. I actually have to brake with finger #3 and 4 when my hand gets numb---Again, FP riders seemed to have gotten alot faster.
Then F40--I was actually gonna try to win this one as I was gridded on the front row. I got a great start, was in 4th--driving hard with the leaders--in T5--hard on the gas in lap 1--I spun the **** out of my rear tire--doing a mini highside--it kind of caught me off guard in that turn--same thing happened exiting T6 but not quite as bad...****. I thought I have something on the tires so I backed it down a notch--to do some "traction tests"--after the tire got hotter all was good again--but I had lost valuable time on the leaders--it really pissed me off that I couldnt catch up to Demas on a 600--WTF??--I was getting a tad tired--so I backed off a tad--some two stroke 250 came by me in T7--WTF?? a two stroke--I stuck with him pretty well--got thru some dinasour traffic--and in T10 of the last lap he either ran out of gas or the bike broke--too bad for him. This time I finished T11, put my head down and finished 4th...good thing I didnt look behind me cuz apparently my arch-rival Gary Stewart was on my ass---but stayed there....That race mostly 46s...and NO crashes. Fastest laptime of the leader was a 1:44.5--gettin there.
So I guess this was one of those "bread and butter" race weekends--low drama, almost highsided myself on the worst two places on the track...but kept it upright none the less. More to learn.

| Re: Da Trackho Report NUmba 6 Awesome racing Jeff. I was watching the Formula Pacific race from the top of turn 3, you guys go SO fast, it's fun to watch. Also got to see Go Go and Kim Nakashima get tangled up right there. We gave Eric a ride back to the pits (we drove up the hill) and he said that he leaned into turn three and his shoulder got caught on Kim's footpeg !!! the leathers hooked on the footpeg and he couldn't straighten the bike up and they both lowsided.
Here are a couple funny pics of my endurance race experience. Team Formula Pathetic:
First pic is after the race with the pit crew making fun of my non-stunting abilities. They were trying to get me to do one out of turn 11 the whole day. I obliged on the last lap but they didn't think I actually got the wheel up at all.
Second one is Dito vindicating my non-stunting abilities.
Third is a friend of mine with photoshop.
Also at one point they started writing the lap times in Roman numerals! Took me 4 laps to figure out what the hell the letters meant.

Stanton couldnt get any exact times, but sounds like he broke into the :37s--Insane Fast |
