Re: Heartland Park 8/9 CCS Races

Had a horrible race weekend. *I didn't crash, but that's the best thing I can say. *I hadn't been on the bike since I broke my shoulder blade June 21st, so I expected to be rusty, but I was downright HORRIBLE. *We had two short practice sessions in the morning. *I had to cut each one short because the bike died going into T1. *After the long straight I'd brake and downshift, then turn in. *The revs would drop and the bike would die. *I had to pull off and cycle the key off and on again to get the bike going. *It did the same thing in St. Louis a while ago. *I talked to the Dynojet guy and to Jeff Wood's mechanic but all they could guess is tipover switch. *I even called Dan Kyle from the track and his guesses were either tipover switch or fuel tank venting. *We checked all the fuel lines and venting when this happened the first time, so I really don't think that's the cause. *As for the tipover switch, I have it mounted solid to the undertail. *It's level from side-to-side but it may be titled forward at more of an angle than stock. *We thought it may have been mounted TOO solidly (we thought maybe the harsh bumps were causing it to trip so we mounted some rubber strips between the switch and the undertail to isolate some vibration) but it quit again in the Supertwins race. *The last resort is to put the stock undertail back on and see if the same problem happens (i.e. get the switch back to the exact stock mounting orientation). *In the HW Supersport race, I think I lined up in the wrong grid position because I got the meatball flag. *I had been kind of easing my way around the track hoping the problem was fixed anyway, so it didn't make much difference in my finishing position (would have only been ahead of one or two guys). *All in all, it was 'one of those weekends'... *

Re: Heartland Park 8/9 CCS Races

Bummer.

Man, I was pitted next to a guy at Sears in 01 that had the exact same problem with his RC. *The BVH crew figured it out for him late Sat night(before the Sun races), but for the life of me I can't remember what it was. *It was something real basic, that got messed up without realizing he'd done anything, while working on the airbox as I remember...

Re: Heartland Park 8/9 CCS Races

Was it a pinched line? That's real easy to do when reinstalling the tank. I was very careful when putting the tank back on. If you remember what it was, PLEASE let me know! TIA!

Ugh. I didn't hear about this until today. My weekend was nothing compared to another racer's:

Injury at Heatland Park

I hope you get the problem fixed, but I guess that's racing some times.
