If you catch me right befor the race starts I may be thing about the race so don't take my race face for being rude.

Yamaha TZ 250 1992-1999 about 72-81hp. The 2000+ are 90-100hp. Mine puts out 73.9hp its a 94 bone stock. I don't get to crazy with the jetting plus the weather is about the same at Willow HOT as HELL for the most part. I may change my jets twice a year if it is above or below 70. If you ever get to ride one jump at the chance it will change the way you ride on the track.

Does the power band come on real strong like a two-stroke dirt bike?

Oh man. That would be creepy. I guess when it hits mid corner is when you see all of the wicked highsides that two-strokes are known for?

No the power does come on smooth like a V-twin but it is just a short power band. The highsides are from carring so much corner speed for the most part the rear tire braking loose and catching again.

Oh okay. The only dirt bike I ever rode was a KX80 back in like 1993 or something. I wasn't expecting it and all of a sudden WAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! It was a shock to me. I was expecting this from two-stroke race bikes as well.

ha! That's pretty much how it went. The difference is that I was wearing flip flops, shorts, t-shirt, no helmet/gloves. And when the power band hit, I was riding a wheely all the way down the street. It was pretty amazing...that I didn't kill myself.

Re: Toyota 200 & RRW 250/50 at WSIR

Here is my race report

I was running very slow the whole weekend only turning a 1:37 about 6 sec off my normal pace. I let my teammate run it in 0-500cc novice race he worked his way up to second place, but backed off when a light rain fall started and finished 4th. The 250/50 I was gridded 37th out of 41 riders, but that did not matter because when the flag droped I was the last one to leave start finish. I worked my way up to 29th by lap 6 then the bike started to run like crap and would not go over 11,000rpm on some parts of the track. I just tried to bring it home so I could get my $100 race entry fee back. I thought I finished dead last with the bike problems I was having, but there was 2 bike behind me so I finished 35th.

Rich Oliver is fast.

I have two goals for next year a top 15 finish in the 250/50 and get to 185lbs.

I was going to help but I was still a little down about the way the bike was running. How did the 250 next to you guys do?

Now you just have to fab a 20gal. tank for TZ. Tape my feet and hands to the bike and first place is mine

I worked as crew on the 200 a couple of years ago, and most of the 250's that started (the 200) seized/blew.

I think I understand why they went to a 50.

Its only a 200 mile race you don't have to replace the topend untill 300 miles.

The 250/50 started because John Ulrich wanted to give the 250gp racers some love when the AMA gave them the boot.

In 2003 Rich Oliver finished 4th, Michael Montoya 8th, & Ed Sorbo 29th. I think the three 250's entered this year 2 crashed I don't know what happend to the 3rd just a dnf.
