| Race License I'm going for my race license on my next trackday. I really want to race next year so I'm going for it. I'll be racing ASMA races at Arroyo Seco. That is all. |

Enjoy and support the local organizations that support the addiction at the "recreational user" level. Good luck and have fun. |

Never really understood it. |

Never really understood it. | GLRRA was probably more like AFM and ASMA than CCS. Local oriented organization that provides safe, cost-efficient (relatively) racing for the general populace, and put on a real good show doing it. Good stepping stone if you want to go up, but also a good place to stay and play. Purses and continency didn't mean anything to be because I'm an "also ran" who needed to be walking to go to work on Monday, and wanted to ride with people who felt the same way. |

| Re: Race License These past few days I have been talking with some friends who currently race, and it looks as though I have a spot on a team for next season. We're gonna sponsor a race or two thoughout the year as a team. In all there will probably be 6 of us on the team as riders. On weekends we can't race we'll support eachother trackside. This is getting exciting. |

As a founding member of that organization, I was really sorry to see it go away, although the last 2 seasons were a ghost of what the first 5 years were like. Similar to the closing of Trackoholics, GLRRA's demise was due to the sheer amount of work, the total lack of money and the apathy of people in general. |

I had meant to highlight that some of the organizations out there have more to offer riders like me than just the opportunity to race. Definitely a good, safe, family type opportunity ... with some great racing thrown in.
I made it to GLRRA on it's second year starting with the Chicago school, with our own Abtech leading the effort, so I like to think I learned from the best. I also saw it in its high point, and in its decline. Keeping that going was definitely a significant commitment and effort, well beyond any monetary reward that might have been. I applaud all of the efforts ..... so support your local groups where you have them, you will miss them when they are gone. |

| Re: Race License I didn't observe it, I was part of it. Good group. More like CCS was out here in the West. Laid-back as all get out, and long races that even amateurs could run in.
The AFM has short races, and the amateurs are pretty much fully ignored. The AFM in many ways is actually much more intense than an AMA weekend. |
