| SV-650 vs RC51 vs GSXR750 for amateur club racing and track days Soo....
I want a track dedicated bike. I want to be able to race every now and then for fun and do track days as well. I have had an SV-650 track bike before and loved it. I didn't love getting blown away on the straights by the liter bikes at track days. The SV can compete in more race divisions than the RC. I have always wanted an RC.
Thoughts?

Reason: added gsxr to the title

| Re: SV-650 vs RC51 for amateur club racing and track days From that intro, I'd have to say get the RC. You stated you wanted to only race now and then, but do lots of track days. That and the final sentence really answers the question, I'd say.
If you were wanting to get into racing and maximize your race time and overall points numbers then the SV would be the better pick. |

Originally Posted by ConqSoft I thought the ZX-10R was going to be the track bike? | It will be used at the track for track days. But it is primarily a road bike. I want to use it to go run the dragon and the occasional track session. I want something I can race as well and have as a dedicated track bike so I don't have to keep switching track and road plastics... I think I am a bit too chicken to try and race that beast also...
I'd also like to avoid the 600's as those races tend to be crash fests from my limited experience... |

| Re: SV-650 vs RC51 for amateur club racing and track days I considered the same option.
The SV seemed more of a pain to get up to what I wanted
I was afraid I would miss the power of a liter bike (1000RR touring machine)
I hate suki's
I like Honda's
The RC is good out of the box with lots you can do to it
The SV front end seemed wanting in a big way
Got the RC and love it.

| Re: SV-650 vs RC51 for amateur club racing and track days I enjoyed my Sv... It handled awesome and was a blast to ride. But, unless I was ridin against other sv's or 600's, I just got blown away on the straights. I'm not planning on racing an entire season. Just a race here and there. I dunno... I'm leaning towards the RC... |

#11 | | | Re: SV-650 vs RC51 for amateur club racing and track days It does suck getting smoked on the straights by larger bikes but it's much more exciting to whoop their a$$es in the corners. I'd say get the SV if you like tighter tracks. | |

Instead of buying tires every weekend, I could by them every other weekend; if I needed a part, there were several other people in the paddock with SV's. The casual trackday/race is different and the RC is definitely more fun on the street. But you'll learn more on the SV, I guarantee. Besides, any moron can wick it up and go fast down the straight. Outbraking people is fun too.
