| New bike - What do you think? I am about to buy a second bike. I know this site has a Honda bias but I would still like some opinions from all you regular track addicts.
I am going to buy new and I am thinking of the CBR600rr, GSXR600 & GSXR750.
I want something that I can grow into but know that my 1000 will be a bit much for me to handle on the track.
What are the advantages of the 750, I have heard that it is the best around package.
What about the two 600's? How many parts would be exchangeable between my 1000 and the 600/750?
Those that have tracked both of them, IS this just an aesthetics choice or are there differences that you have noticed
Thank you all for your help

| Re: New bike - What do you think? I like the CBR600 but I would wait for the '07. Should be an all-new design.
I think that GSXR750 is pretty tough to beat as a total package. |

| Re: New bike - What do you think? Hey gang, I've been away for awhile but I picked up an '06 Gix750 in Blue and White this spring replacing my '05 Gix1K. It may be the perfect sportbike. Having owned an '04Gix750 as well I can tell you the '06 has evolutionary change everywhere. The fuel injection is much improved in fact I cant find any fault with it, no more throttle on/off lurch in mid corners. Motor is much smoother with the added counterbalancer and I'd argue it has more torque at the bottom end than my Gix1 had, longer stroke motor will do that. The whole bike is downsized, narrower through the mid section, tank got shrunk, you're closer to the front end bars. Brakes are flawless, less crank weight than the Gix1 so easier turn in and side to side. I've seen dynos as high as 129RWHP and about 56ftlbs, so not bad. It doesnt have the kick ass hit the Gix1 had but that's about the only negative in all other areas overall handling, braking, gearbox I'd put it on top.
The only other bike worth considering would be the Daytona 675 it weighs in at at 417 lbs wet vs 442 lbs for the Gix750, has less HP and torque but that's a big weight differential in favor of the Daytona. The only negative I've read about on the Triumph is notchy upshifting. |

| Re: New bike - What do you think? I just built an 05 GSXR 600, but have not rode it on the track yet. I have noticed that parts are more readilly available for the 600 suzuki than the CBR's. |

ie
Damper
Rear Sets
Wheels

| Re: New bike - What do you think? If you plan to race...750 have to run with the 1ks. Which isn't that big a deal in the Am classes if you mod it some and are a FAST rider. I'd agree Gizzer parts are more avail. than the cbrs. I'd take the new gizzer6 or wait and see what the 07 cbr looks like. |

I really think that even if some particular model of Suzuki has a number of advantages over a similar model Honda, those advantages are cancelled out when you consider reliability. Unless you are can afford it, that is. |

| Re: New bike - What do you think? I read an article on a magazine from Spain in 2002. I think it was "Motociclismo" but I'm not sure. It was based on the last five years of official dealer repairs or something like that. Brand with less repairs was Honda. That's the one thing I'm pretty sure about. Second was Yamaha. Then Suzuki and last with the worst average was Kawasaki. Somehow the data made sense to me then and it makes sense to me now. But I don't have any info that I can give you to back this up at this time. Sorry. I'll try to find the article and I'll keep you posted. |

| Re: New bike - What do you think? GSXR 750...I really like that bike. I don't think you'll be disappointed based on your description.
Almost all of the chassis stuff is compatible between Gixxers. The 6 guys often buy 750 or 1000 swingarms because they're braced for example.
The GSXR is the Dell computer of the bike world...platform technology. |

| Re: New bike - What do you think? rode about 10k miles last summer with a friend on an 05 gix6. Only problems he's had is the upper fairing stay broke, the front brake fluid resevoir bracket broke, and a subframe bolt fell out. Other than that it runs and rides great. doesn't seem like anything major to me.
Go with the 750 if its what you really want.

Then later decide what I want to do with the 1000 |

| Re: New bike - What do you think? So are you up in McMoney permanently now? Not much up there for tracks. CLosest would be Stratotech northeast of Edmonton, but that is more of a kart track... then again if you end up riding a lot there a 600 would be ideal. From what I hear it's pretty much a 2 gear course. If you're based out of Calgary you have Race City to play on... there's a nice long straight where you can use the power of the 750 or 1000. Plus Spokane is a reasonable distance. |

| Re: New bike - What do you think? No I have not relocated yet still spending my time in Cali and Calgary.
I have an F250 and plan on getting a trailer as well, that will help plus I will be back in Calgary allot so I could always rent a secure storage area and keep it there. |
