Are things as bad as they seem?

I really have been concerned the last week about all the deaths and serious injuries I'm hearing about in racing and track days.

Is it really worse???

What is going on? Lack of rider experience? Bikes getting too fast for amateurs? Poor classification of riders? Just more events?

Please chime in. Maybe my memory is fading, but it seems like things are worse than they have been in a long time.

I think it's probably just more people coming into the sport. THe percentages of wrecks/deaths are probably the same.

Re: Are things as bad as they seem?

Some of the tracks that club racer are on have not kept up w/ the bike development. So somepeople think anyway. It's probably true. But for sure, club racers go to the cheaper tracks, which are also the more dangerous tracks, Nelson, Putnam, Loudon, etc.

Re: Are things as bad as they seem?

Thanks, I think you're all right, but the larger number of events is probably the biggest reason. There are ALOT of sessions. Statiscally, it would make things look worse.
