To all club/amateur racers out there. Do you think you can compete at the top of AMA or even at World level if you were sponsored by a factory ride?
The reason I ask is because Motorcycle Racing isn't basketball, meaning only a few gets a chance to be on the track, afford to race, then be sponsored. I wonder how many Valentino Rossis out there who are flipping burgers right now? For myself, knowing that even a simple low side can cost thousands of dollars, ride with the mentality that I cannot ever crash, which significantly slows me down. So what do you honestly think?

Nope, not even close. I don't have the sort of dedication to race for a wage.
I have never even asked for sponsorship because I don't want to feel I owe anything to anybody but myself. I also don't believe anybody else should be forking out for me to enjoy racing.
