| Re: Racing transponder My SV track bike is wired for a transponder but when I bought it there wasn't one included. Is it better to rent or to buy your own?
I was planning on buying an Ultra-Lap beacon and reciever and I thought I read somewhere that it was compatible with the racing beacons but I could be wrong. Please advise.

| Re: Racing transponder Well, I am going to do probably like 4-6 track days a year and about the same amount of races. If I go to a race will I be able to use the lap timer as a transponder? Or should I just rent the ones they have? |

| Re: Racing transponder No, the racing transponder is for the racing club to score you. You typically can get laptime printout from them. Obviously, on a track day that won't be of use. I bought both. |

| Re: Racing transponder I think you're talking about two different things.
Lap timers - like the Ultra Lap are relatively inexpensive riding instructors. Once you have the basics down, a lap timer can help you see what adjustments work better in real time.
A transponder helps a racing organization keep score on bikes.
Most racing orgs that use them have a bunch of their own that they have racers put on the bikes, and it's not really a bring your own tye of deal. |

| Re: Racing transponder I knew they were different, just wasn't sure if the lap timer reciever could be used as a transponder. Okay, well I guess you have to rent them each time? Or is it just part of your entry fee? |

| We put a deposit down for our dB Com transponder in the AFM. The lap timer you should just buy. |

| Re: Racing transponder For CCS, you get your transponder when you register. Doesn't cost to rent it (not a separate charge anyway) but they'll charge you bigtime if you don't turn it in at the end of the weekend. The plastic mounting bracket you keep though, so once you have it mounted you can just slip the transponder in and out.
