| Re: Got it! Qualified to get rear handed to moi Good Job!
Just remember that finishing with out hitting pavement is the most important thing in your first couple races. Don't let anyone rattle you out there, and watch out for the leaders if they start to lap you. But most of all don't forget to smile.
Next season I hope to be in your shoes, a rookie grinning from ear to ear.
Good luck and ride safe. |

| Re: Got it! Qualified to get rear handed to moi Good luck man. It is a total blast being out there. Just wait until you get into a battle for position with someone. I had a race last year where another guy and I kept trading places. I thought I was beat until 3 from the end when all of a sudden I was right up on the rear tire of this guy. I moved to his left, kept on the gas for another second or so before jamming the brakes and held him off. Turns out he had been having problems with that section the whole time and I was a lot faster than he was through that turn. I can't wait until April. First track day is the first weekend in April and the first race of the season is at the end of April. |

| Re: Got it! Qualified to get rear handed to moi The first race experience was something else. Talk about a rush!!! Seeing I'm a total newbie with no points (WSMC grids by points), I was gridded at the rear. My main objective for this first race was to get through without crashing and riding within my limits. Hearing the engines rev and seeing the green flag wave gets the adrenilin flowing like nothing else that's for sure. I got a decent start for my first one ever but had to check up as I really had no where to go into turn one. Passed a couple into turn two and then went about trying to move my way up as the front had pulled away from the group I was trying to get through. For the next couple laps I was busy trying to move my way up. Passed a couple in turn 8 flat out and couple down the front straight after getting a decent drive out of 9. Passed another on the inside into three going up the omega and then the final one in 8. By the time I'd made my way through this group of riders the rest had moved on so the last 2 laps were pretty much riding by myself. When I got back into the pits I took a look at the times and was pleasantly suprised as I'd clocked a 1:37 and a 1:34 on the laps when i wasn't held up. My previous best was a 1:38. If I could have worked my way through the traffic a bit better I definitely could have moved up to a better position, but am satisfied with getting through my first race on two wheels and improving my time. Ended up moving up from position 22 to 16. It was just a whole different level than a track day. I can't wait for next month!!
I've attached a couple pics of my mechanics...

| Re: Got it! Qualified to get rear handed to moi Hey, aren't there child labor laws in your neck of the woods to prevent such abuses?
Congrats on getting through your first raceday without mishap. Watch out for the other guys. They like to crash out in front of you and take you with 'em. |

| Thanks. All I can say is that I never thought it'd be that intense or fun. I though track days were fun but this is nothing like it. It's about the same amount of excitement (not really the right word, but can't think of the right one) difference between street riding and track riding as track days to racing. Is it next month yet?????

Probably not for a while. To get reciprocity with a novice license with the AFM you must have completed 6 races on 6 different weekends in order to forgo the AFM new racers school. Maybe after I complete 6 races I'll look at doing some with AFM. Good luck next week. I'm sure you'll do great. You're a fast mofo.
