| (SPOILER) on Superstock race Did you guys see Jamie's comments after the race on "loosing the front". He said, "if it was 50 times it was a 100 times". I can't believe the "size" of them there balls to do what they do around that place.
I know it's been commented on before, but I think that something has to change. The place, the bikes or I don't know the right answer. I like watching the racing, but I don't want riders feeling like they're close to dying in the name of racing! |

| Re: (SPOILER) on Superstock race I say change the place. It's not a motorcycle-friendly track. Walls suck.

| Re: (SPOILER) on Superstock race I agree. I hate that track. Despain (and I do like the guy) was comparing Nascar to bike racing for at least 10 minutes.
We don't need another Suzuka type incident, obviously many of the riders view it as very unsafe.

| Re: (SPOILER) on Superstock race Five bikes finishing at practically the same time was pretty cool to watch. As soon as Roger Lee took the lead in the 'chicane' I knew he was done. I actually yelled out 'idiot!'. Too bad, he made the same mistake as Nicky in his first big race at Daytona. Can't underestimate the draft - even when he had the fastest bike out there.
Had he let Bucky go coming off the 'chicane', Roger would have won that race and spoiled the Yamaparty - and Dean Adam's wet dream. |

| Re: (SPOILER) on Superstock race That finish was cool for sure and I'd love to see more of them. Does it take the high banking and long straight to give us that excitement? OR could a change in the Daytona facility provide us with just as cool as finish without the death threat? Many raceways used by AMA in the good ole' US of A still have the walls (two racers hit them at Road Atlanta last year). Would just a "willing" track redesign allow the 'Daytona' Bikeweek venue to continue? OR does the whole facility need to be scrubbed? AND then take it over to JenningsGP???? Just kidding there because it is not even close to Daytona or does it have the facility for an AMA race at this point.
I'd hate for there not to be a Daytona 200 as it gives a nice late winter kick-off to the year. Especially for us winter bound northern folk. AND I actually do think it's neat to have one race where tire changes figure into the game. Other race organizations have endurance races so AMA having one is not a bad thing I don't think.
BTW, I thought the "low turnout" of the Formula Extreme grid was funny. HHHMMM, that was so much better than a 250 race!?! I have two friends that were going to do a couple of Formula Extreme races on their 636s until it came out that they decided to limit it to 600cc. Let's see, Formula Extreme, but no overbore???????????? So Formula just a little Extreme!!!!! |

| Re: (SPOILER) on Superstock race Hey Charlie, just haven't been on the board very much since I left blade ownership. Been living in the V-twin (not Honda, sorry) world you used to be in. It's a V-twin project to be more specific. Bought someone else's OOPPS!
Thought I'd pop in here to check chat on Daytona. Getting all pumped up for another race season. |

I like watching the racing, but I don't want riders feeling like they're close to dying in the name of racing! | I was going to make the same point after hearing him after the race. He sounded as if his knees were still shaking, thanking God the race was over, and get me the hell out of here! He also eluded that HE rolled off the throttle just before the finish line in fear of running up and into the eventual winner. It was eye opening for me to hear a professional be honest and have to empty his suit after the race. Loosing the front, serious tire longevity concern, and what was up the tire speed differnces? Rear tire traveling 25mph faster than the front? I might be mixing up some of the races, but did you see where the two racers almost collided at about 160mph! And finally, Jason Primore thinks Daytona sucks! Whew boy! |

Bike Week could still exist, and they could still run a 200, but allow the riders and teams to make their own judgement call as to whether it is worth risking life and limb for one race - just like the IoM event. Doing that may even make it more legendary.
As it is, sitting out Daytona puts a huge burden on the championship run so no one can really do it unless they all do.
I really do think the right thing to do is for the AMA to pull the race from the schedule, but I doubt they'll do it until one of the 'knowns' gets killed.
Oh piss, I hope I didn't just jinx Saturday's race.
