AMA Superbike Races at Fontana - SPOILER

Dammit, the guy's just fast... He's got all the records.

What did I miss? Wasn't there some major concern on Suzuki's part that their outlawed double butterfly intake was going to make them non- competitive? That they were 20 mph down on top speed or something?

Well. Jake got on the podium, so I'll be happy with that.

Happier than when I got up this morning at oh dark hundred hoping for an F1 upset. Maybe Shumacher and Mladin should switch seats for the rest of the season.

Miladin almost crashed right in front of us. Went off the track a little and then back on and still won. Not much different today except B-Boz didn't crash and actually finished. Check out speed tonight. You will have to wait for the Formula Extreme races, which were great.

Re: AMA Superbike Races at Fontana - SPOILER

The race was a snoozer except for this:

(stolen from roadracingworld.com) Lee’s Cycles/Roadracingworld.com’s Jeremy Toye finished 11th on a Yamaha YZF-R1, which was still wearing its stock suspension, stock exhaust system and stock bodywork with headlight and taillight taped over.

Wow....I hope the rest of the season is a little closer and more exciting than that. If I wouldn't have had company over, I would have fallen asleep. I still get annoyed with the commentators....

Drebber: (Early in Race 2 : watching Miguel watching the leaders walk away) And here's Miguel...biding his time to make his attack

uhhh, yeaaahhh, like it would be his strategy to lose a second a lap?

Edit : I gots sum spellin issues

He's a local Willow Springs champ to boot. It looked funny with the license plate bracket still on.

Re: AMA Superbike Races at Fontana - SPOILER

Man this season is going to be boring as hell...

I tried to watch it, but I ended up spending the day in garage working on my toys....

I was supposed to race in the Supermoto event on saturday, but the money wasn't there to support the addiction.

Re: AMA Superbike Races at Fontana - SPOILER

I got my $30 worth when I saw someone almost highside and then SAVE it right in front of me. I was seated at turn 9...the crash corner man.

And yeah Mladin was in front the whole time..no one came close...the 3-6 was all the Honda's chasing him. The Ducati was niiiice.

My first time at the races and for not knowing crap it was pretty fun. Those guys make it seem sooooo easy. I swear...

Wow Mladin wins again I know a lot of you guys dont really like Mladin but I think he deserves a little more credit than he gets, during pre seaon testing with the rule changes and all the new 04 models, there seemed to be a general consensus that he would'nt have it so easy this season although even with a HP deficit he still keeps on winning, would it have been so boring if E-boz or Zemke had won?

The problem with Mladin is not his ability. We all agree his has talent, but he is a piss poor example of what a competitor should be. At the begining of the season when E-Boz tore up Daytona, Mladin made the comment, "Well the rules are in his favor, imagine how fast I could be on that thing" or something to that affect. He's the first person to whine and moan when something doesn't go his way. If he crashes or Loses it's never Mladin's fault. Suzuki didn't give him a good bike, the tires suck, blue isn't the fastest color... But when he wins, it's all about Mladin.

Re: AMA Superbike Races at Fontana - SPOILER

I taped both races, and man what a snore.

And I agree with Crash, Mladin is a great rider, but a very arrogant competitor. Always too quick whine. He is the champ though, and has more wins than anyone in AMA Superbike history, and 4 SB titles to boot. And he does deserve alot of praise. But he one of the riders that I don't even try to talk to, or get an autograph from at races. He just needs to win with grace, and lose with grace better for me to like him. Plus he is the only guy up there on the same bike as last season. Eric on the proven Ducati, and Ben, Miguel, and Jake feeling out and developing the new Honda. That Gixxer has been developing for four years. The Honda might need half a season to refine it to a winning bike.

That stock R-1 was pretty damn cool, pretty impressive for a basically stock motorcycle. I wonder how the 1000RR off the showroom would compare.

Hey, remember when we all couldn't wait for the race season? I still loved it and can't wait for Moto GP! Back to AMA, what's up with Ben? He seems to lack confidence or something. Jake is doing great, he's the complete opposite of Maladin, personality wise. Gotta love all these on board camera footage! Boring? Nah, not for me.

Re: AMA Superbike Races at Fontana - SPOILER

There was one positive with it being a run-away at the front. They (speed) spent more time talkin' about the privateers. It was great to see some of the other guys mixing it up a bit. Also getting their rides and sponsors on TV.

Toye on that R1 was a hoot. No doubt he's a great rider, but that bike must not be to shabbby right of the show room floor!

I must disagree with the statement made above about when Mad Mat wins it's all about him. He always gives a bunch of credit to his crew and routinely calls them the "best" in the business. He also said before Daytona that he has seen many fast riders in the AMA and if they had his crew they would have as many wins as well. He does whine when he feels that rules/situations has put him and his team at a disadvantage. He's not always that kind to backmarkers. BUT, I think it comes from A. He says what is on his mind. B. He wants to win, feels the pressure to win, and doesn't like things or situations that come between him and the WIN. Maybe a little to driven. At least he hasn't dropped kicked anyone!

If Mladin had he way there would've been only five bikes on the grid! He's one of the most vocal about backmakers and non-factory riders. If you want a series of proven champs only, than race MotoGP (except for Curtis), otherwise let it be.

And I agree that watching the privateers battle was cool....

I think it was Ben's bike setup for race two. They took a gamble to reach Mladin's lap times. He was looking good at points then seemed to lose traction. He is going to be letting it all hang out for the rest of the season, he needs to win to have any hope in the Championship.

Mladin will never be loved, unless he changes his attitude. Great rider, piss poor attitude.

Wasn't Larry Pegram the one on the stock R1? Or was there another one in the field? Amazing performance for the R1, even though only a few factory teams out there.

Jake has been truely amazing, what a great personality as well. 2nd, 4th, and 3rd in his first three Superbike races, can't ask for much more. He has been the top Honda now twice out of the three races, only Miguel has beaten him. Such an up beat guy, really refreshing to someone smile so much. He knows how lucky he is to have such a great job, Mladin needs to take some notes.
