| Re: MotoGP : Jerez FP1 and QP1 I hope so, but the times don't really encourage me to think that. For Rossi to already be almost 1/2 second ahead of second place in QP1 is really a shocker for me....especially since this is supposed to be a "Honda" and "Horsepower" track. I know Rossi set the fastest IRTA test time during winter testing, but I figured it would be a little closer by this point. I'm not giving Rossi the crown yet, but daaaaaaaaaaayum. I think the Honda's will get faster (obviously) tomorrow (weather permitting....they're saying it might rain Saturday and all day Sunday) which gives me hope that the competition will be close...that's all I really want. I don't really mind who wins, but I want some scrapping up front. Welkom was awesome, but I'd like to see more than two guys clear off from the pack.
Anyone else think Bayliss wants to swap bikes back to the '03? It's a shame seeing the '04 Ducs so low in the order. |

| Re: MotoGP : Jerez FP1 and QP1 Yeah, suprised....I mean, the depth of talent in MotoGP is astonishing. Granted, I've only really followed it since '99, but has there ever been talent this deep in the field and with this many manufacturers (now that Kwak and Suzy seemed to have stepped up)? For Rossi to put on a clinic like he has so far this year, and for Yamaha to reorg that pile is really really suprising to me. I don't doubt the man, but it does make my jaw drop when I see the times.
I wouldn't be as impressed if he did it on the Kwak as if he was forced to ride a WMC pile or the Aprilia |

| Re: MotoGP : Jerez FP1 and QP1 Dude, I knew something with this guy could really happen when he won his first and last 500cc championship, I watched him only a couple of times in 250. He would come from the back in '01 so many times and win, same year Biaatchi tried to elbow him off the track. Even in '00 he finished 2nd next to KRJR. Anyway... nothing he does really surprises me anymore, people have laid one excuse after another on the guy, "without that bike", "he knows the tracks", after a while you just have to let it go, he is the best, and by a considerable measure too. He is on a new machine with jack for preseason testing. Some of the Honda guys had to deal with a new engine etc, he is on a totally different bike, with a totally different engine config, and got up to spec this quickly. Forget the dicing at the front, and all that crap, just be glad you get so this guy race. I would have loved to see Hailwood, or Agostini in their respective primes, hell even that tard KR |

| Re: MotoGP : Jerez FP1 and QP1 Are you sure? I thought Jerez was where all the manufacturers were up over 200mph with the Duc topping out over 215mph. The Yamaha was a lowely 12th in top speed, but set the fastest laptime. I'm almost positive that's Jerez...right? |

Umm nope don't believe so. Top speed for this qualify was Xaus at 180 mph (290km/hr) with Rossi having the eighth fastest trap at about 178mph

| Re: MotoGP : Jerez FP1 and QP1 You lucky bastage geting to watch it live.....
Well, it was a wet QP2 today, so, the short of it is that it looks like the grid will be the same as QP1 on Friday:
QP1:
Top 10 with full times to come....
1. Rossi 1'40.818
2. Gibarnau 1'41.198
3. Checa 1'41.427
4. Biaggi 1'41. 546
5. Tamada 1'41.631
6. Nakano 1'41.645
7. Hayden 1'41.911
8. Edwards 1'42.000
9. Barros 1'42.141
10. Roberts 1'42.312
I think the fastest time today was Roberts (and I'm not sure which one) with a 1:46. So, Colin's got his work cut out for him (middle of the 3rd row). The forecast for tomorrow is still rain which will greatly even things out. Gibernau is good rain rider and is at (one of his) home GP's, so he'd be a good choice if he doesn't chunk it away. Rossi may play it conservative...but pigs might also fly...All I know is if it is a wet race it will be very interesting.
And if I don't mention it enough, most of this info comes from Colin's site and the members over there. Dan Vitale, Tobesterr etc that provide updates every few seconds as the action occurs...very cool. |
