| NEW MOTOGP RULES Anyone else read that they were going from 990cc to 900cc max. in the future? What is the deal with this. They say it's for rider safety. If you can't ride it go to a different level.

| Re: NEW MOTOGP RULES I had heard something about this a while back.... My understanding it's what has caused the rumors of Honda making a 3 cylinder bike for next year. |

| Re: NEW MOTOGP RULES There's an article about it at Soup. It's a proposal at this point, for 2007.
I don't really have a problem with it. As the bikes get faster they outgrow more tracks, and it ain't easy getting big new tracks. |

| Re: NEW MOTOGP RULES It wont make the bikes one bit safer, they will be more dangerous if anything as It is still posible to get another 30+ HP out of a 1 liter engine, if they drop the capacity limit back to 900cc the engines will be developed to be just as powerful as now and possibly more powerful but they will just become peakier and harder to ride!
Ps now that the bikes have 230-250hp are we really seeing any more crashes than 10 years ago when bikes had 180HP? I think not! |

| Re: NEW MOTOGP RULES I guess I can see it from both sides,
One is that the manufactures should be allowed to build what ever they want, after all it's a prototype class. And the riders are the best in the world and should be allowed to prove it on these untammed rides.
The other side, motorcycles are not cars. Meaning in F1 they can go as fast as they want because at the end of the day they are surrounded by a cage. Motorcycles... well remember Kato. The riders even said that the bikes are getting too fast for most of the current tracks and to renivate (sp) most tracks is a multi-million dollar proposition per track. Dorna would have to foot most of the bill.
Unless every track is like Qatar where run-offs can be hundreds of yards, it's getting too risky. Personally I'd like to watch these battle for years to come and not lose another one because they hit a retaining wall. |

| Re: NEW MOTOGP RULES They're not currently working with unlimited rules...there are displacement and weight limits. I agree with keeping things as open as possible to encourage development...but they will always be working within certain limits. Why not have limits that will work on enough tracks to keep an interesting assortment?
Enlighten me if I'm way off. |
