This just in from Ducati Austin:

The Ducati Austin Racing Team announce that they have decided to release Australian rider Anthony Gobert from his contract with the team.

Terry Gregoricka, the team owner, declared : 'Both of us have made a big effort to make things work this year, but they didn't turn out the way we had expected at the start of the season'.

'As a result the Ducati Austin team has decided to move in another direction' he added.

For the next two rounds of the AMA Superbike Championship at Brainerd (27-29 June) and Laguna Seca (10-13 July), the team will enter the World Superbike Championship rider, 30 year-old Italian Giovanni Bussei.

not trying to defend the guy at all, somethings definitly up with him... BUT, has to pretty frustrating as a rider when its a miracle to get a bike to finish a race......

Have they finished like 2 races or something like that?

Do you think he is going through a Kurtis Roberts phase. I thought I remember hearing that Anthony Gobert signed back with Yamaha. I don't know if that is true, just what I heard.

Yes, Ducati Austin had a problem or two with the bike itself, but Gobert pulled out of a couple of races (think it was Infineon maybe?) without giving a real reason why. I really thought he would be battling this year but I'm sad to say I haven't seen him show any heart. Maybe something's going on behind the scenes, but if I were another team I sure would want some explanations from him before I signed him.

I'm not so sure about that. Pascal Picotte finished 4th in the AMA Superbike championship last year with Ducati Austin. I think Vic Fasola is a pretty decent mechanic too...

I have an insider that tells me he may have been drinking heavily for a while again. However he is (from what I understand) Talking with Yamaha. Anthony was very happy riding with Yamaha. So we'll have to wait to find out what the deal is. I can tell you one thing, You havent seen the last of him. He has a good manager and he has loads of talent.

Yea, I do believe his mother is his manager. I say I think she is good because, all the problems Anthony Gobert has had in the past, yet she continuously manages to get him on top named rides. dispite all the termoil he has raced GP, WSBK, USSuperbike, Aus SBK.

If you ask me that is a good combination of talent and good management.

And the drinking is not confirmed, this is hear-say. But it comes from a reliable source.

IMO I think he is going back to Yamaha, when they get their game back on.

It was a pitiful attempt at humor when I asked how you knew his mom was GOOD.Anyway,I definately think he has the talent,regardless of who his manager is.I have also heard that physically goshow is in great condition ,compared to some past years when it was obvious he was way out of shape.I'm sure he will end up with a good ride somewhere,it's just too bad he seems to have an attitude problem,like so many talented riders.

Man I totallly agree with the attitude comment. Like Mat Mladin. I used to love watching that guy race. Now I hate when he wins, cause I know he is going to make a stupid arse comment towards Eric Bostrom. You know about the whole cry baby BS.

I can't wait till next year with EBos on the new ZX10 and Mladin on the GSXR1000. That will be nice and fair. Maybe then Mladin will shut his mouth.

Fhew... deep breaths... This gets me excited.
