Sete Gibernau
Telefonica MoviStar Honda: 1st
“It has been a weekend that started badly but ended perfectly. I was not happy with the bike on Thursday but on Friday, we started to find the right way, and today I took the victory. I want to thank Honda and my team for all the support they have given me. I think we have all done a good job. I have won again in the wet but also this morning in the warm-up the track was dry and I was second quickest. As far as the race is concerned I had it pretty much under control. I spent a few laps behind Max and then I stepped up the rhythm because I didn't want him near me in the last few laps. Today we equalled Valentino's win record this season which I think is important and now we have to work to be just as competitive in the dry. I hope this is the case in the next race at Donington.” Quote
Valentino Rossi
Repsol Honda: 3rd
“Going the wet on this track is very strange because the grip is incredible. The lap times are only 10 seconds slower in the wet than they are in the dry. Today we slide with the knee sliders in every corner. At the beginning it was difficult to go hard 100%. I get behind Sete and Max and at the beginning I see nothing as I have the mist inside my helmet. I fight with Troy and then found a good rhythm. In the end we make the podium and we don’t loose too many points in the championship. Now we wait for Donington and we hope it’s dry” Quote
Max Biaggi
Camel Pramac Pons: 2nd
“I am happy with the result because a wet race is always complicated, unpredictable and very difficult. At the start of the race I tried to stay with Sete Gibernau and I was not finding it too difficult to keep up with the pace but when I lapped McCoy I lost contact with him and even though I tried everything to get back on his wheel it was impossible, mainly due to the rear wheel which was spinning excessively on the straight. I would like to congratulate my team who have done a good job.” Quote
Nicky Hayden
Repsol Honda: 11th
“That was a real tough race made extra difficult by starting at the back of the grid. I knew I had to make a good start and I managed to and got past quite a few of the slower dudes on the first lap. It was unbelievable hard to see – I’ve never raced where it was that hard to see – that wasn’t cool. I had a few good battles in the race and managed to get past Ukawa who I was behind for quite a while. It was a pity in the end because I had a real good feeling about this weekend. I was feeling better on the bike and was real quick in the warm up this morning. Thought I could have made top five – easy to say now though. I’m off to Japan now for Suzuka 8- hour practice and then Donington. Gonna be busy”

| Re: Assen GP How about the ride Bayliss put in. Goes down and ends up finishing in 9th. Not too bad. It was a good race but not really a ton of action. Rain makes for some really scary riding out there. Guy's are nuts. My hats off to them.. |

| Re: Assen GP Why do they bother racing in the rain? Sure it takes a lot of skill and different strategy, etc., but it seems kinda pointless to me. Can't they at least delay the race a little to see if the weather improves? |

| Re: Assen GP the thing that surprised me the most was the ride Haga-san was having...even getting as high as 4th until his penchant for crashing reared it ugly head....I was kinda rooting for the guy to have a good ride too....oh well, too bad....maybe the 'Priller is starting to come along....we'll see at Donington... |

| He's tied for wins at 3ea with Rossi. But...he's third in points so his non-win finishes are lower. |

| Re: Assen GP It was a great race. It's funny how Biaggi's comments are upbeat and postive, eventhough he finished in second, only this time ahead of Rossi.
Bayliss was awsome, Edwards did a great job and Nicky is just pluggin along as he should be. Good Seti! AS much as I like watching Rossi race, its nice to see a series that has more then one winner race after race. |
