| Something for Edwards to read and think about. Hayden still troubled by knee injury
News, 28/09/04
Nicky Hayden says he is still not 100% fit after damaging his left knee ligaments in a supermoto crash one month ago. The Repsol Honda rider also broke his collarbone in the incident but says it is his knee which is taking the most time to recover as he prepares for the thirteenth round of a tough season in Qatar this weekend.
“This whole season had been real weird,” says Hayden, who escaped unhurt from the first-corner pile-up at Motegi but was unable to return to the race. “For a whole bunch of reasons it has been pretty hard this season. But I don't want to make lame excuses. At least we all start at Doha on a level playing field and I'm really looking forward to the challenge.
“I’m feeling a little better physically; my shoulder’s coming good although my knee isn't responding to treatment as quickly as I want which is a bit of a worry. Anyway, now I’ve just got to brush myself down and head to Qatar. I know I’ve had a bit of bad luck but tough times don’t last long… tough men do!”

| Re: Something for Edwards to read and think about. Please. He had a motor problem in QP2, with his #1 bike that has the new chassis. His #2 bike is the old one, old chassis. Please tell me in this from motogp.com where he blamed the bike? Quote:
Colin Edwards was left to reflect on what could have been after the final qualifying practice for the Marlboro Grand Prix of Qatar. The ‘Texan Tornado’ had been one of the most consistently quick riders this weekend until the crucial final ten minutes of the decisive session, when a series of errors cost him a potential front row start.
“We continued working on the set-up today and we found a good rhythm, but unfortunately in the second half of the session we lost a lot of time on my preferred bike and I had to go out on the other one,” explained Edwards, who will start from tenth place.
“We weren’t able to make the most of the qualification tyres because I made a small mistake in the final corner and ran off track by half a metre, losing the front. It will be tough tomorrow because to overtake you have to run off the racing line and that is risky.”
Team Manager Fausto Gresini is expecting a tough race for both his riders, with Edwards’ team-mate Sete Gibernau starting from the front row.
“We have to be ready for a really tough race because of the high temperatures,” said Gresini. “What happened to Colin was a shame because he did a good job in qualifying without being able to get a time on the qualifying tyre at the end.
“Sete, on the other hand, will start from the front row and it will be important to get away well at this circuit.”

| Re: Something for Edwards to read and think about. Just got off the phone from my mates sisters uncle's painter. He said Colin spanked everyone for most of the weekend, and that Rossi crashed in a vein attempt to try and stay with Colin, after Colin passed him and started pulling away. But hey..................that's what? 4th hand info? |

| Re: Something for Edwards to read and think about. If Edwards needs to read that, then Nicky needs to earn that Repsol ride, which he hasn't. Where is he at in the championship standings again? Is this his first year on the RCV? I don't think so. Maybe next year huh? |

Dear Col,
We are a few guys from the blade.org site that have constantly bashed you for your complaining and were under the wrong impression that it was because you couldn't cut it with the big boys. We now see the error of our ways, and see that, given the same stuff as the rest of the guys, that you can not only cut it, but can pretty much dominate a complete race weekend. Please forgive us, as we pretty much only know what we read on our site. Our opinions of ourselves are way higher than they are (were) for the likes of you, but that has changed. You ARE in fact the man.

| Re: Something for Edwards to read and think about. Ok I will admit to being an Edwards fan, infact he's my favorite rider in the paddock. So with this bias out in the open I still feel it's safe to say that he was rider of the weekend and he handed everyones asses to them on a plate. He's only just getting comfortable now as he's last on the list for Honda when it comes to development, which is a disgrace after the man wins them 2 super bike world titles. If Edwards gets on a Repsol next year, he must start as one of THE favorites for the championship! |

| Re: Something for Edwards to read and think about. Will, it's been brought to light now that Edwards was made to stay behind Sete at Qatar and he will be made to do so for the remaining rounds. If it were me, if I was staying at Honda I'd do it. if I was leaving, I'd win regardless. Anyone that believes that Colins performance this year was because of anything besides the chassis/tyre combo, is very much mistaken. As for the bitching? I'd like to see anyone here be in that position, know they're good enough to win the series, yet look like crap ONLY because of the crap support by Honda and such a basic ingredient to getting your bike where you know it should be, not given to you. I know I'd be tellin everyone about it.
Roll on Sepang.
