| Re: VIR Tomorrow (10/10/04) Waitaminute..............that can't be right. Regis Laconi on his WSB Ducati WITH MICHELINS is TWO SECONDS slower than the Dunlop Honda of DuHamel? But, but, but, the World "Superbike" guys are so much better. |

Lanzi did pretty well, lapped considerably faster than way more experienced Laconi all day and he propably doesn't have too much experience on that track. And Lanzi is not even WSB guy (WSS). |

| Re: VIR Tomorrow (10/10/04) Yep, E.Boz pulled out after realizing his shoulder still wasn't strong enough. He wasn't even supposed to ride this event in the first place. His euro-weenie "teammates" smoking him all morning? Yeah, O.K. Morning practice had Bostrom at 1:28.023, Lanzi at 1:28.008 and Laconi - the WSB runner up at 1:28.592. Yeah, they were full on kicking Eric's ass. Afternoon practice, when Bostrom's shoulder was weak and he couldn't turn the bike very well still had him at 1:27.426, with Lanzi at 1:26.767 and Laconi at 1:27.365. Faster than the physically weakest factory AMA guy in the second session? Yeah, barely. Faster than the weakest overall AMA team on that POS bike? Sure, but no where near the top level factories and riders, as will be the case on race day. In fact, they were out-paced by a privateer team on a Kawasaki, as they will be on race day.
I thought the only reason Laconi (and the entirety of WSB) was so freaking slow at Laguna was because he was on Pirellis, and if he were on Michelins he would have at least been close to the AMA guys' times.
They ought to just pack up now. They will both be beaten by at least one privateer, probably more. If they even finish the race.

Take Lanzi for example: he's been riding 749 most of the season, on Pirelli's, not much track experience... Put him on a bike with which he has not raced so much this season, new tires, unknown track, propably somewhat unknown crew, you get the picture. Laconi has way less excuses and he's more experienced. Comparing Lanzi's performance with what Eboz has shown during this season (in relation to Honda/Suz) for example Fontana, Birmingham, Elkhard Lake and I still maintain Lanzi is not doing that bad at all. He's not that experienced either, was just promoted from Euro Superstock (a junior class with age restrictions) after last season and was just riding 749R in Magny-cours last weekend. In fact, he propably has never raced with 999R before, he was on very slightly tuned 999S (with less than 160 RWHP) last season in Euro Superstock. Let's put Mladin or Eboz in a SS bike running Pirelli's and put them to race in say, Oschersleben Germany and see how they do. I just don't see them smoking Muggeridge etc., but that's just me. |

| Re: VIR Tomorrow (10/10/04) Too bad about the plan changes. If my buddy hadn't been so eager, I'd probably pass on this one too. The $40 ticket is gonna warp my budget a little. Got TIGHT this month! |
