Re: ram air ducts

I believe a lot of people have tried, but it really takes some substantial amount of know-how to make it work correctly.

I believe what you are hunting for more than anything would be considered a 'cold air induction' system.
Although a little ugly, many people have gotten some great results just by removing the black covers that run from the front fairing to the tank, exposing the snorkels.

Others have made some cool mods to the fairing to allow a more direct airflow from the front of the bike to the snorkels.

Some of the article may have gotten lost since the new forums software change over last year. Search 929 ram air though.

Re: ram air ducts

Man, that was some funny stuff, re-reading that thread after a year . . .

BTW, I just carry a damn compressor around with the RC. It's so heavy the extra 400 pounds doesn't make a lot of difference and that 120 PSI I blow into the ram air duct makes the damn thing so fast I can barely hang on . . .

Mine (and LTL's in the background)

Re: ram air ducts

thanx for the heads up on the subject, I'm thinking of building a carbon fiber collector (on the inside of the front fairing) like you see on some brake cooling set up, but leave it open(no closed tubing) My thinking is I will spend too much time & money tuning on a dyno the other way. Thx for the info.

Re: ram air ducts

One of the guys I ride with has a homemade ram air kit on his Erion929. You don't even notice it just by looking at it, you hafta look carefully for it. On a cooler temp day, like this time of year, he says he ahs a difficult time keeping the front wheel down. I could have him write down the needed materials and some generic instructions and then email them to you.

Re: ram air ducts

yeah that sounds cool. I'd be interested in the a/f tuning. I appreciate any help on this subject.
