True enough. But in interviews both written and on television he leaves me w/ a bad feeling. Like if he wanted to date my daughter I'd have to "Bring out the gimp".

He's a good kid livin' the life that I / we wish we had. |

If we had that kind of skill when we were that age I am sure we would come accross the same way |

That's cool. Just to play devils advocate: Why doesn't Ben Spies come accross like an ass?

In my opinion, that goes back to a question of up bringing. Ben and I went to the same high school albiet 8 years apart so I know where he came from and the way people act there. It is a different atmosphere to the point of I still call women Ma'am, all of them. Some of them even get annoyed because of it but it is the culture where he is from to walk softly and carry a big stick I suppose. I was always taught that actions speak much louder than words and the like. |

He's the only one I've seen walk around the areana doing autographs, taking pictures, etc... His very polite and comes across as a truly nice person, versus... well you pick.... |

| Re: Jason DiSalvo IMHO I think Mladin is the biggest dick I have ever met. What an arrogant ass. DiSalvo is just a kid ,and like slodsm said, it's a question of upbringing. The one thing I always think about when I have met pro guys at the track, this is their place of business. It's their job to race. It's like people coming to my work and bugging me all day for autographs and pictures and such. You go somewhere and get paid to race not socialize. So I can see why some racers(Mladin)are the way they are at the track. When you see guys like Ben Bostrom, Jake Zemke, Ben Spies, Travis Pastrana, Jeremy McGrath and others go out of their way to sign autographs and be social it really shows their class.

This isn't really what I meant, but your point is valid. I'm not sure how DiSalvo is about autogtraphs and such. Haven't heard anything. I like Mladin's attitude. He gets the job done, and doesn't take BS. Simple as that. However, from what I hear he falls short in the "fan support" area. Remember he's obligated to the sponsors and Suzuki to help build a brand image as well.

| Re: Jason DiSalvo No doubt Mladin gets the job done, his work ethic is outstanding. I just think that he's so emmersed in his ways that he doesn't realize/care how he comes across to a person. DiSalvo is a cocky little kid whose had everything "given" to him. It's people like that who think they are better then the average Joe that really piss me off.

I think back to the dirt track folks I knew and some of the best were also some of the nicest most down to earth folks you could meet. Exceptions being Springer or anyone related to him

Dano | Actually they're paid to promote their company's products. Racing is a marketing function. No more or less. That's why while Pastrana has never come close to living up to his talent, he keeps getting sponsored.
Believe me, I understand not wanting to be "bothered" at the track more than most, but it is these guy's job.

Nope never talked to him. Yep, basing my "impressions" of him on boob tube interviews and reading interviews w/ him.
If I met him I'd keep an open mind.
