It's a piece of junk...

Link to article "Alex [Gobert, Aaron's younger brother] is riding a Superstock 1000 CBR, and it's a piece of junk. It's not even a good street bike. But, you get the parts and follow the Superbike rules, and it becomes the biggest missile on the planet."

Aaron threw in this little barb about the Honda when talking about the Superbike rules during an interview. Overall interesting interview though.

Re: It's a piece of junk...

I can't believe I've been duped for so long thinking Honda made a quality product. Thank God I know the truth now. I regret owning all those bikes in the past. I was only fooling myself having such a great time enjoying the balance of performance, craftmanship, and style. I'm such a dumb ass. And so are all the rest of you.

I took mine out for a second last night to heat the chain before oiling, my pulse actually dropped and I was afraid to get on the throttle for fear my engine would explode

PS But when my diesel RC gets in

Re: It's a piece of junk...

has he raced any of the other bikes to really be able to compare them? Yamaha won one class of the 4. Each of the 4 major Japanese manufacturers took one but I'd say overall Honda was the strongest. They were right there in Superbike in second and third. And took first and second in FX.

I guess all of you who bought a 1000rr don't know **** cause a Yami guy said they suck so its gotta be true.

I don't really understand why Yami and Kawi aren't doing Superbike. they build these monster bikes for 04 and then don't race them in the premier class.

My theory is b/c in order to sell more bikes they have the things tuned close to their limits from the factory in order to produce better "numbers" (ie- hp and in turn sales) and therefore in order for them to compete in SuperBike it would cost waaaaay to much and/or they couldn't be competitive. And if they weren't competetive in the premier class they would in turn sell fewer bikes.

But I could be full of ****. I'm just a computer geek from Ohio. What the hell do I know?

sounds like a good theory. Seems the only ones who can really dispute that are the factory guys. and if they did that would be like kicking themselves in the ass.

When was the last time Yamadog won an AMA or World Superbike championship?
They are just saving face by not showing up. It's a lot easier to sit around and say your bike is just awesome (which the R1 is, as the greatest bike ever buit) then to get your ass beat at the track every week.
At least Kawasaki knows how to win a Superbike championship.

With Haga at the helm they may have a shot this year in WSC. I think WSC is going to actually be really good this year.

more importantly, when was the last time "Yamadog" actually participated in the AMA or WSBK championship?

Well, the last year they participated in World Superbike was 2000, and never won a championship. Thier last year in AMA Superbike was 2002, and they did win one title in 1991.

I guess they'd rather make up idiotic excuses rather than admit they aren't competitive in Superbike racing.

Here here... I think the racing all over is going to be top notch. A lot of big shake ups and there seems to be a great mix of talent across the boards this year.

05 is going to be a great season on so many levels....

I ain't sayin ****. Hahaa Last time I said anything about any of the Goberts, I had Aaron, and his mum on the phone going nuts. hahahahaha Booth may remember.

I think that you have to take what he said from his point of view though. From the bikes they ride etc, there may be some truth in it. From just that quote, I also think that he may have been thinking more about the RULES etc, and less about the actual bikes. But anyway, a quick trip back home and a chat to Krusty should change his mind. Haha
