| Roger Hayden injured in bike crash How ironic, this guy hauls ass on high powered motorcycles for a living and he gets some pretty bad road rash from a bicycle incident. Actually I have a friend who's really into road bicycling and they take some pretty nasty crashes link
"The next time I ride a bicycle, don't be surprised if I'm wearing full leathers," Hayden said. |

They split it and I didn't have any time to react, I hit it square and it wrenched the bars out of my hands and I went down.

| Re: Roger Hayden injured in bike crash Ouch!.................Just like "Old Goat" I have also raced bicycles for 20+ years and have hit the asphalt a few times.............Interesting thing is, I went down in a race a couple of years ago (at about 30 mph) and suffered a serious concussion, broken collar bone, broken rib, punctured lung and lost about 2 sq ft of skin............Crashed my 929 @ Cal Speedway the next year @ about 80 or 90 mph and got away with a few bruises. MC road racing is pretty crazy but bicycle racing can get insane with all the elbows (and fists) flying, other racers leaning on you for position and the real terror of your first field sprint.............A lot of people watching bike racing don't realize how much "combat" takes place in a race...........But I digress. |

Yeah still race.
Bikes- cannondale 3000, Litespeed Ultimate, GT Edge, Paramount OS, All Dura-ace components.Cannondale is the latest and greatest, and the race bike. The others are older, Can't sell them unless you give them away so i just keep collecting. plus there's 2 mt. bike in there to. god i'm spoiled
If your talking about the group that meets starting in March, yes i do, depending on the weather. It's all the top racers in the area getting ready for the race season. The first 50 miles are pretty easy but the last 5+ are all out. .
Do you ride Heavy Dee?? |

Sweet! I don't ride, but I'm really wanting to start. Just can't seem to drop the cash required for entry. I've been keeping my eyes peeled on ebay for a Trek 1000/1200, or a Specialized Allez.
The fact that there is a riding organization so close to my home makes me want to do it more.
Like you said, no one sells used bikes.

| Re: Roger Hayden injured in bike crash Sh@#*t.............If I just sent a blank response.......Sorry..........Spilled my Martini on the key board..........We have several Ohio transplants racing in the local (LA) bicycle racing scene.......They still can't believe the season has already started.......You have some nice rides there Old Goat............I've got a similar collection (Serotta CR, Specialized M4,track bike, MB and a brand new 05 MASI for this season) ........Been on the same race team for the last six years.........As long as I do my job, they give me a new race bike each year for almost nothing...........So I usually sell the older bikes for cheap......BUt just like the riders, the race bikes usually take a beating.....HD, if your looking for a bicycle, the best time to buy is usually @ the end of the year when serious racers are getting new hardware and unloading the older stuff......You can contact any local race team and someone will sell one cheap! |

| Re: Roger Hayden injured in bike crash OK, this is to all you bicycle racers out there.
If you are riding in a race on a pedal bike, and are in a tight tank top and spandex bike shorts with the padded arse, with no socks on and your shoes cut below your ankles, and doing 35 or 40 MPH going downhill sprinting towards the finish line, everyone looks and goes "Oooooooohhhhhhhhh" and "Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh".
But, you go to the local hardware store in shorts and a tee through town from light to light doing 30 mph on your sport bike, people point and say "Hey, look at that crazy focker riding a crotch rocket wearing shorts and a tee shirt!!!"
I ain't saying it's right to ride when dressed like that. I'm just saying.......... WTF Dude?? |

I wish I was born into a racing family. As it is I'm the only one in the family that even rides.
