| Re: Steve Hislop killed Just heard that Steve Hislop has been killed in a helicopter crash.
Seriously bad news. Terrible year just got much worse.
When all the factors were rigt and the planets were aligned correctly, just maybe the best racer on Earth. Last year on his 996 he was quicker than Rossi on the RCV around Donington.
Tragic. BBC

He was an incredible racer. *Godspeed. |

| Re: Steve Hislop killed from an interview with the BBC: Have the deaths of David Jefferies and Daijiro Kato affected your career and how you ride your motorcycle?
Jordan Waterhouse, Bradford No it's never affected me. If you let things like that worry you then you wouldn't - or shouldn't - be getting on board.
We all feel for the families of those two but you have to get on with it. It's our hobby and our career. You just have to crack on.
3 so far this year (yeah, I know steve's wasn't biking related, but still), lets hope for a safe rest of the year... |

Yes he did. not sure of the figures but I read in an interview somewhere that Rossi was most impressed. Hislop was up there with the greats. |

'And when he was qualifying for a championship round at Donington Park, he broke Valentino Rossi's Grand Prix lap record, which is unheard of on a bike which is 25% less powerful.'

FYI:
Hislop was not offered a new contract at MonsterMob Ducati after winning the championship last season and now he has been axed by Virgin Yamaha, who are attempting to cut costs.
Hislop has endured a difficult season as champion and matters came to a head at Rockingham last weekend when the Scot finished 10th and 11th in the two races as he slipped to eighth in the riders' championship, 203 points behind Shane Byrne.
Hislop has suffered set-up problems on the Yamaha, which has been consistently outpaced by rival Suzuki and Ducati machines.
After another disappointing performance in race two at Rockingham, team manager Rob McElnea decided to drop Hislop and save on his wages.
Hislop said: 'I've been struggling to get the bike set up all year and the results I wanted were not coming.'
Hislop could be replaced by Sean Emmett, who recently left Renegade Ducati while James Haydon is also believed to be in the frame.
Haydon has found this season hard going with Foggy Petronas Racing as Carl Fogarty's new team adjust to life on the world stage. |

| Re: Steve Hislop killed I first saw the talented Mr Hislop in an IOM video (in '94 I believe). I was going to watch the video last night before I posted in this thread but didn't get the chance. He was fast... very fast. He will be missed. RIP. |
