| Re: Nicky Hayden In GP Dean Adams over at 'soup will write about him occasionally also - that is when he unwraps his lips from mladin's d!ck.
Of course, he's an American journo so it isn't surprising, other than his hate for Honda.
One thing that a LOT of people are forgetting is that not only is Hayden on a new bike, on new tracks, and in a new environment, he's also riding on Michelins for the first time in his life. Anyone that has been following racing for a while knows the track record of Dunlop riders that have to make the switch to Michelin.
Sure, he's got a great team on his side, but the kid is very talented and is staying surprisingly level headed in his situation. |

To be honest though, I'm most impressed by Bayliss and Ducati in general, although I'd guess that was an easier transistion than it was for Nicky to the RC211. |

| Agreed. I really thought the M1 would be there this year but it's not even close (though Melandri looked pretty good last weekend). For the Duc to run like it has its first season is pretty impressive. Bayliss is awesome. He'd ride the wheels off anything.

| Yep, had hopper finished that well, all the nicky haters would be out in full force exclaiming 'told you so'...
Its only a matter of time... I still think, before the season is out, he'll podium... Its a stretch, but I think it could happen. And I read in RRW that just two races ago they started letting nicky have more of a say in the bike. The reasoning for not letting him have the 'say' earlier was so he'd learn the bike and the tires first, then try to adjust them... |

| Re: Nicky Hayden In GP 5th ain't the podium, but I'll give the kid credit for one thing...
He hasn't been chunking the bike, he needs to go over to Haga's trailer and teach him a thing or two about a thing or two. I'd say he has been doing what I though he'd do all season, run in the back on the best bike out there. 5th isn't the podium but it's a good finish for him. Him getting on the podium, that is a stretch. And as far as the Nicky hating, I think anyone that was expressing hate about that, was the hype. And that hype didn't follow the other Americans over there, come one come all. I hope the guy does well, I just get sick of all the hype. Hype without results is , let him get on the podium first and start winning races before going 'til then give the other guys that race for us the same love or STFU. |

| Re: Nicky Hayden In GP I think the exagerations go both directions. 5th may not be the podium but I don't think I'd call it running around at the back. Granted that's his best finish so far but he hasn't been throwing it down the road either. Anybody think he's not pushing hard enough? Maybe he should take a page from Rossi's book and toss the thing a few times in the first year to find its limits instead of creeping up on them?
I like to root for Colin as well. But with his bike going roman candle on his ass and being an unreliable heap so far, and with Hopper and Roberts Jr. being stuck on a POS, why wouldn't you hear more about Hayden? |

| Re: Nicky Hayden In GP And as far as being on the best bike, I gotta disagree... *Better than the cube/GSVR/Kwak, sure, against the duc and the yamaha, they are very close I think. *Sometimes it might be the best bike, but I dunno... *some of the bikes are junk, but most are good, they just lack development time... *It certainly isn't the most powerful one out there. *Bayliss was flat out smoking max in most corners and most definitly in straight line acceleration this past weekend. *Yamaha's lone hope IS melandri. *With barros the star injured, they have no one... *Biaggi was the only hope they had last year and rossi pimp slapped him at will (like he does this year)...
As far as hopper and kr go, they'd be better off on mladin's GSXR... *That bike SUCKS. *Hopper qualified most places faster on the 500cc 2 stroke yammie... *they make kick ass street bikes, but can't do crap at the extreme...
Colin, my man just can't seem to catch a break. *Had the new #1 chasis erupt into flames and had to go back to the old bike and it showed... *He'll get there though, and if he had done as well as nicky, you'd see the same enthusiasm about him from everyone. *No one is trying to keep colin down, a few HAVE chosen to try and talk nicky down however. *And haga always was a crasher!!? * *How many times did he throw the mille down last year?? |

| Re: Nicky Hayden In GP Hey, I'm behind all the Americans, Colin being my favorite. I used to not like Hopper much, but I've read more about him. He does some stupid things (running bicyclists off the road with his rental car, etc.) but he is still a teenager. He has more talent than I initially would have given him credit for too. I don't think you can deny that the RC211V is the best bike out there, but that doesn't automatically put you at the front (or even 5th) in MotoGP. I think all of our boys deserve to be there.

| Re: Nicky Hayden In GP As discussed on the old forum....I still contend that most of the Hayden Hating comes from displaced anger over the treatment of Colin.
Anyone that's ever seen Young Hayden on the track would NEVER come to the rational conclusion that his deal with Honda was undeserved.....
Why it got pointed in Hayden's direction, would take a shrink to figure out....
Booth...
You say you got tired of the hype, but you'll have to help me again....my feeble mind fails me as usual.
If you are against hype, then why did you pick a screen name after one of the most hyped figures in modern sports...?

| Re: Nicky Hayden In GP If I may add my $.02...
I am a huge Nicky Hayden fan. When he first took the ride with Repsol I had some mixed emotions. On one hand i didn't think he would fair to well. He is now mixed up with people WAY over and outta his league. I thought it was a bit 'unloyal' (for lack of a better term). Because he skipped right over a very important level of competition. On the other hand I was really excited for him. 1. He is riding with prolly one of, if not THE best rider in the world today. 2. With the learning curve Nicky Fans know he process, he is sure to be MGP champ before long.
Now that I look back on the season thus far I can realize the big picture Honda and Nicky have in mind. (and this is totally opinion) I think Honda may have seen the potential Nicky had and thought that... Considering the fact that he whooped the a$$ of Colin Edwards and Troy Bayliss @ Laguna, and only held back for respects sake. I think he would have dominated WSBK just like he did US-SBK. I think maybe Honda saw the whole WSBK debacle comming a long time ago and figured to avoid Nicky racing a season that would have ultimately been a waist of time. Same goes for Colin in that respect.
