| MotoGP LeMans SPOILER Did you see the race? I saw the last 12 laps or so - very exciting stuff! Nice to see three riders dicing it out that way until the end. Rossi sticks it to Gibbers once again, despite Gibernau making a heck of race out of it. Awesome that the last lap was actually their fastest of the day, in that head-to-head battle to the finish. Got to be a little disheartening to Gibbers, knowing that he won there the last two years - and it hasn't been a great track for Rossi, to have Rossi do him like that.
Edwards was a gamer too - but just isn't quite the rider of Rossi and Gibernau when it's all said and done. Said he had tire problems down the stretch.
Le Mans Results:
1. Valentino Rossi (Yamaha)
2. Sete Gibernau (Honda)
3. Colin Edwards (Yamaha)
4. Marco Melandri (Honda)
5. Max Biaggi (Honda)
6. Nicky Hayden (Honda)
7. Loris Capirossi (Ducati)
8. Shinya Nakano (Kawasaki)
9. Toni Elias (Yamaha)
10. Troy Bayliss (Honda)

| Re: MotoGP LeMans SPOILER Yeah, but this one was different. According to most of the "experts" the Yamahas really weren't supposed to do well there, and Rossi just flat goofed off during the first two practice sessions.
He still was able to overcome a bad start, was smart enough to cruise around behind Irvine - er I mean Edwards - to save some tires for what he knew would be a battle at the end, and still keep a faster Gibernau behind him to the line.
I was flat surprised and impressed with the win. Serious mental win as well.
As for CE, good on him, he's had his one breakout race for the year. Nicky? He had the speed, but faded. He's got to learn to stop doing that crap.
EDIT: And as for the AMA, it will continue this way until Honda gets a new bike. The 1000RR is a POS platform for Superbike, and their bike this year is a pig compared to last. Last year Honda won more races than Suzuki, and if it weren't for the intrasquad racing Miguel could have had another title.
This year, Honda's lap times are SLOWER than last year, and everyone else is faster. Hell, this weekend Tommy Hayden's Supersport qualifying time was faster than Miguel's Superbike qualifying time. A 600 on DOT tires faster than a 1000 superbike on slicks. What a pile of garbage the 1000RR is.

as far as AMA it's always a hell of a fight for 2nd
DBA you're right about the 1000R just doesn't see to be in the same game as the "dark side" but damn it I still want one

| Re: MotoGP LeMans SPOILER It's a Rossi show from here on out. The others will try to bite his heels race by race, but in the end, he'll keep getting wins while they fight over the scraps for points.
As for this race, I predicted Rossi would push Colin over the edge of the limits and he'd crash. Well, it looks the Mullet caught him before he proved me right  so we'll see next time. As for Hayden, Melandri or the others... well... start hot, grow cold.
What happened to Barros? He didn't look to good on a stretcher, but they didn't say anything about him on Speed. It's too bad he's out. |

| Re: MotoGP LeMans SPOILER Truly awesome race. Almost expected another bump in the last lap but Sete just couldn't quite get close enough. The rest of the season I think will be quite amazing to watch. |

| Re: MotoGP LeMans SPOILER Yes, that was a fun race to watch. My thoughts while watching were
1. Hayden was probably going to dump it, instead he just faded away.
2. I was excited about Edwards, but had this feeling he'd be caught. Like the commentator mentioned, "we'll see what Edward's is made of being chased by the two best in GP." Well we saw. As soon as Edwards was passed and shook his head, I could hear the "inferior bike" or "tires went" (btw, I didn't see him really sliding anywhere? )or just pick one. It'd be nice to hear that he was just schooled by the best, ran out of time.
3. Nice to see Gibb touch gloves with Rossi after the race. It looked for a second there that Sete was going to stiff him.
Just a thought, I'd really like to see Mladin in GP. I wonder if he'd contend or just be another Hayden or Edwards. With the right bike I think Matt would be fun to watch, and I'm not a huge fan of his, but he is an awesome racer. I know Hayden and Edwards are very good riders, but GP is just too much. I don't see Edwards getting any closer than this 3rd place finish. We'll see. |

my thoughts exactly.
great race. COME ON HONDA!!!
how about we get rid of hayden and put Hopkins in his place, he seems to have a stronger spark of the two at this stage, but is hampered by mechanical problems, and bad luck. |

I don't think the 1000RR has any problems that a pile of HRC parts and some Michelin slicks can't fix |

And yes, compared to the other liter bikes the 1000RR is a garbage Superbike platform. |

| Re: MotoGP LeMans SPOILER I thought colin did extremely well to get out and lead from the start and run the pace as long as he did... Someone has to lead and unfortunately it was him. I kept thinking that if rossi and sete got into it, it'd slow them down and colin could gap them. This happened once, but both rossi and gib are too experienced to let that happen. Rossi isn't the story of this race, sete is... Sete was sucking tit all weekend, piss poor start but he just flat out kept pushing to catch the front 3. I think had he caught the front 3 maybe 2 laps earlier, he could have won...
Its just amazing to me how evenly matched all of these bikes are. No one could draft pass anyone. I feel the yamaha is every bit as fast as the hondas and it showed when sete couldn't even pull the gap on the straights.
Damn good racing, good thing sete brought his A- game, otherwise a sucky race. He made it interesting...
And yeah, why did colin's interview get cut?? I was livid! |

| Re: MotoGP LeMans SPOILER I don't think the 1000RR is the POS many would like to believe. Its every bit the bike that the zook is, its just who's riding it. in WSBK, those guys are extremely competitive with everyone else.
No one in the ama can touch mladin, thats all there is to it. |
