Assen - Spoiler

Wasn't the most exciting race I've seen. Was hoping Marco would come through, but major props for him for hanging with Rossi. As far as Nicky goes...suck it up already boy...he was doing good until he got spooked by Sete. That was kind of a dirty pass IMO.

Re: Assen - Spoiler

I agree that the race could've been better. But Damn, Nicky got freaked by that move. He did a great job of coming back on Rossi, but Sete spooked him for sure.

On to Laguna Talk about getting the home feild advantage, only four guys in MotoGP have experience. I expect Edwards and Nicky to show the boys what it's all about. I'm still pulling for that no talent ass clown Hayden....

On a side note did you catch the comment at the begining of the program that the Repsol brass was on hand to extend a two year deal to either Hayden or Biaggi? Padrossa is supposedly coming up to the Repsol MotoGP squad and either Hayden or Biaggi will be booted. I gotta say that Biaggi on a one year deal didn't do himself any favors this weekend.

**Edit** never mind I was just adding to some silly season rubbish. Here's the reason Repsol was there.... Soup

I did...I was crossing my fingers for Nicky that he would stay on two wheels. I'd much rather see him get signed up again than Max. What happened to him today anyway?

Why would you even expect anything from a Texan in the first place?

Nicky is already contracted to Repsol Honda for next year. My money is on him having a young Italian teammate by the name of Melandri next year.
And yes, Edwards raced a good race. He and Nicky are both on a decent wave going into the next event at Laguna. A track they both know well and where they have both had success.

Re: Assen - Spoiler

Edwards is slowly getting the bike to his liking and I hope from here on , keeps it up front. Dunno about Nicky and him having any advantage at Laguna though. It'll take Rossi andthe others all of about first practice to have the track dialled in, and then it's all about who can get their bike set up best. THAT is who will win, and from the last how many rounds, how can you bet against Rossi? Hopefully the track advantage will help out Colin and Nicly for qualifying (god knows Colin needs that) but race time, Vermuelen showed last year in wsbk that track knowledge means sfa. And these guys are the next rung up the ladder. Can't wait to see it though, Gooooooooooooo the 3 pump chump.

Re: Assen - Spoiler

I noticed that Hayden was running a soft rear tire.... I wonder if that's the reason the last half of his race wasn't as good as the first. Rossi seems to consistently use a hard rear tire, which must save him some reserve grip for the last few laps when he usually makes his move.

Bit of a dull race. Max, where the hell were you?

I'm going to say a teammate with the name of Pedrosa.. I'm saying CE will be 1st or 2nd at Laguna. Nicky crash out trying to impress the home crowd.

It's still amazing that Rossi can fly late in the race and the rest of field are commenting how bad their tire conditions were, and praying they weren't going to dump it and settle for whatever position they had up to that point. Rossi is just fearless and talented.

One thing that bugs me about Hayden is that he never seems to have that killer instinct, meaning, he seems content a lot of the times just following, whether he's in 2nd or 3rd. I'd really like to see him TRY and go for the lead and take it as far as he can. Try and run and see if the rest of the field slows each other up. Instead, he usually keeps fading back position by position as the race goes on. Still, not bad for Hayden and Edwards.

Re: Assen - Spoiler

As for the CEII and Hayden thing, it's just good to see Americans running at the top. Nice to CEII have a good run for the second time this season and it was good to hear him not put his foot in his mouth this time.

I gotta wonder if there will be any new paint scheme's for the Home Town Folks in two weeks?

I will agree that I have noticed this year, Nicky lacks the legs late in the race

Ummm no. He said he was riding at his absolute limit (lost the front bad in the same corner 2 laps in a row) and decided to take a podium instead of pushing it past his limits and toss a sure podium (ala the kentucky kid).

riders with laguna seca experience:

edwards
hayden
hopkins
roberts jr
bayliss
xaus
barros??

riders without knowledge and it won't matter:

rossi
gib
melandri
capirossi

What I'm most interested in seeing is how much faster they are around a semi-tight track like laguna compared to Mladin.

+1

It will be interesting to see the difference in lap times, if only to see how the superbikes stack up to the GP machines.
