| Rossi unhappy with U.S. track (SPOILER) Title says it all. I like when he says it's safer on a motorbike then on a scooter. Sounds like he may not be the only who’s unhappy. I wonder how much of this is just being unfamiliar with the track. Link

"The level of security is not very good, certainly not as good as the other tracks we go to," the runaway championship leader said.
| Not as good as catalunya, where they throw firecrackers and smokebombs on the track and mob him when he wins? |

| Re: Rossi unhappy with U.S. track Aren't all the other tracks completely or close to flat? My guess is they don't like the elevation changes...maybe it makes them feel disconnected from the bike when the suspension loads/unloads. |

| Re: Rossi unhappy with U.S. track Yea I wonder if he'll feel better about it if he wins? It's kind nice to see the American riders with a little bit of an advantage for once. Of course a little bit may still not be enough against Rossi. |

They're in the lead with their points, they know that winning this race really isn't crucial. My guess is they'll be taking it easy and making sure that they finish so that they'll be around for the rest of the season since this track is so "unsafe" |

"I find the track so much less fun than I thought," he said. "It's not so nice. It's small, slippery, bumpy. Also the corners, nothing special," the Honda rider said.
| Welcome to American racing. I say deal with it. Everyone rides the same track.
Maybe safety is a problem, I can't speak to that, but whining about the track being tight and bumpy is a bit lame.
I'm glad the Americans are feeling the comfort of home for a change. |

The nonsmiley smiley is due to the fact that I now expect a less than world-class race as you predict. dB ya got that right! |

You're probably right, which may make for a boring race . Of course as competitive as these guys are it may be hard for them to not try and win. Just have to hope the Americans and Bitchachi can make for an exciting race. Any of the other guys ever run here before? |

I heard that Moto GP wanted this race at Barber. What would these guys think of that elevation?? |

I didn't know what to think when he seemed to try and upstage Colin when Colin stopped at the corkscrew and started a burnout. Rossi immediately stopped and did his, and got a lot of attention and people running out there. Maybe it was a Yamaha team moment, or maybe he couldn't stand Colin getting his moment with the US fans.
In an interview (I'm sure you all saw it) before the race he said he loved the US because no one recognized him and he seemed to be bragging something about 7000 or 17000 fans waiting outside his home or something. And something about "I'm a star...unfortunately." Quite the ego and I'm sure he's hunted down as a celebrity in Europe, but he is Rossi. |

Not to mention the pit exit and the T14 racing line occupying the same real estate...

Look at the lap times after Colin made the pass. He didn't have a prayer of catching Hayden, but could have easily caught Edwards. Yamaha wanted to keep Edwards point total high....simple as that....

| Re: Rossi unhappy with U.S. track (SPOILER) I think now we can all see what a disavantage the Americans have on all of the other tracks. Most of the other riders in GP have spent their entire careers riding the GP tracks on either 125s, 250s, or WSB and are quite familiar with them. I'm sure if Nicky and Collin had spent half as much time on the GP tracks as these other guys they would be racing elbow to elbow with Rossi every week. I'm not saying they are as good as Rossi because I think he is probably one of the best of all time but I don't think he'd be winning 5 of 7. |
