| My GP experience Those are the loudest vehicles (aside from aircraft) that I have ever heard in my life. Truly amazing. I knew they would be loud but oh my! Crazy. Makes the AMA superbike race seem like they are whispering little mosquitos.
Quick summary:
1. NICKY!
2. Texas Tornado!
3. E-BOZ!
4. Took 2 hours to get out of the parking lot today.
5. T. Hayden shouldn't have attempted that pass.
6. 48 sunblock applied twice daily does nothing.
7. Next year I am camping at the track.
8. I have never heard a more annoying announcer that knew less about racing or the racers. What a goof in hiring.
9. Know the words to the National Anthem before singing it!
10. Next year, buy the paddock pass and sell it on e-bay. Worth 25 dollars retail but NOT worth 150. I don't get star struck so I'd rather have the cash.
11. Next year find a way to get a ride with Randy Mamola on the Ducati GP bike. Ask him to do a 2-up 2 knee down.
12. Anyone want to buy a 2005 GP paddock pass?
Here are some paddock pics and some short vid clips take by my pathetic still camera.

Thanks for the review.
Yes, my God, find someone who can sing (and has many times) the National Anthem. That was pathetic and embarassing.
Oh, and who reminded Colin that you show respect in America by removing your ball cap during the National Anthem? I mean, how was he to know?
That didn't even show the jets passing (on Speed).
Overall, it was great to watch! |

| Re: My GP experience I agree, that american anouncer was a tool. At least they imported the regular guy to get the job done...and say Du-Kat-E properly I think your right, getting a campling spot would be the hot ticket. I stayed at a hotel In Salinas and rode the Duel Sport bike in each day which worked out pretty well. Never more then an hour each way. Man, that ride with Mamola would have been amazing

| Re: My GP experience I just didn't see any of the GP bikes except Hoppers with the fairings on. Pretty cool but that was the only one. They tarped over all the pits so I couldn't see in anywhere. I did see Jordan, didn't see Brad Pitt. Everything else was cool but not extra special and I couldn't spend 4 hours each day hanging out down there hoping some one or something would show up that I wanted to see. I was busy watching dudes ride. Next time I'd skip the paddock all together and watch the riding. |

| Re: My GP experience Wetsrub, i was directly across from you at turn 2. When nicky got on the throttle it was deafening! I felt waves of dizziness the first few times they passed. Don't know if it was from the noise, heat or excitement, or all of those. I briefly met Dan Kyle as i was leaving, and also put in 5 tickets at the HRC tent to win the 2005 Repsol 1000RR that Nicky signed. Attached is a pic from my cell phone cam.. its not that good, but it will show you were I was from you.

| Re: My GP experience Sweet picture! You were down the hill from where I was. Opposite side of the track. During the GP race I was between turns 1 and 2 by the first aid tent. We could see the battles in 2, 3, 4, 5, and 10 from where I was. Pretty good vantage point even though we weren't as close as some others. |

Mike, what hotel did you stay at? We were at the non-Econo Lodge, lol.
Dave (WSMC announcer) would have been much better than the guy they picked......he did a great job at Cali Speedway. | |

| Re: My GP experience Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Luis Obispo areas are all SO beautiful. Also why they are SUPER expensive. I grew up in Napa. The only way I will be able to live there again is when my parents die and I get the house. My fiance' wants to move out of California for a while and I told her that if we leave, we are going to find it impossible to come back unless we keep a house here somewhere. |
