How long have you been under that rock anyway? The track has been in the works for a while, the AMA was known to be running a race here next year all along. A couple riders have already been out to survey the area.
The only thing that has changed was the official announcement yesterday along with ALMS, SCCA Speed GT, and Rolex Grand American series. Again, it was known that they would be running at the new track next year but now the dates are official. Now all the best racing series in the United States will be here next summer, and I will be at each event.
It will be the longest and one of the safest tracks in the United States, and we have been excited about it for a long time.
The kart track is done and will be racing this weekend, the east track is done and the west track and connectors will be done in a couple weeks. There will be an event or two this fall, with the official opening of the full facility in April. By then the garages and at least the main building will be complete.
The overall facility will be one of the nicest in the world.

The track itself is better than a good number of tracks either series currently run on, but becuase the city it's actually in is quite small and lacks the number of hotels necessary it may be a couple years before they come.

Open track days put on by Miller Motorsports Park will only be $120 for a full day, $75 for a half day, or $50 for a two hour session.
For $1500 you get ten full days and a year membership to the clubhouse.
At these rates, I may just have to leave a bike out there.

I swear they mentioned the $1500 also gets you a season's pass to all events at the track for the year? Did you hear that announcement BDA or was I day dreaming?

Yeah, the "season pass" to all major events is included in the Clubhouse membership, which is included in the Speed Club.

At what other track do you get tickets to AMA, Rolex, ALMS, SCCA Speed GT (and whatever other events happen to come) and 10 open track days, not to mention enjoying the clubhouse at each of those events and days for $1500?
For $2000 the track days are bumped to 16.

This "club" concept seems to be catching on a bit...ie Autobahn etc...

Is it a good business model, and if so, will it be enough to stimulate some interest in building more local tracks...

That's some pretty good pricing. Looks like we need to hook up a Fireblades West trackday in the future. I'll make the drive.

I used to drive down there all the time for CCS events at Firebird. With the race van and bikes we'd make it in ~10. Tucson is only another hour or so from there isn't it?
But yeah, there were a few of us so a co-pilot would be ideal.

Yeah we're about 1 1/2 hrs away from Firebird. It wouldn't be too bad, and as Phobe says, it's still closer than Grattan.

Fun looking track layout. Is it the angle or it fairly flat though? Also what is the rotation going to be?

It's fairly flat overall, but the angle from the sky does mask the small elevation changes.
The main rotation is setup to be CCW, but the tracks can be split and I'm sure there will be rotation differences.
