| Motegi Spoiler Japanese Grand Prix:
1. Capirossi
2. Biaggi
3. Tamada
4. Checa
5. Hopkins
6. Edwards
7. Hayden
8. Roberts
9. Elias
10. Xaus
11. Battaini
Rossi qualified 11th, was up to 4th after a few laps. (Rant begins --- He could have won the championship with a fourth place, but saw he couldn't get past Max. So he punted himself and Melandri off, injuring Melandri to the extent that he left the field on a stretcher.
His story: (From Motogp.com)
“I was able to pass a lot of people but I started to have a few problems with the front tyre when I arrived behind the front three.”
“I knew it would be a risk to try and overtake and I expected Loris to pass Max in the final few laps. I knew I could be World Champion with fourth place and so I decided to just wait and do my race. Then Marco made a small mistake and suddenly I was behind him. It was the first time I had followed him into turn ten and we took completely different lines. He went to the outside of the track to cut across and get good acceleration out of the corner but I went to the inside to run wider on the exit.”
“For the first 50m of braking we were at exactly the same speed so there was no warning, but he was able to stop the bike much harder than me and I couldn’t avoid him. You can’t see it very well on the television but I wasn’t even trying to pass him, it was just one of those things. I apologised to Marco and he said ‘it happens.’ Now I am very concerned for him and I just hope he is ok.”
My take -
He wanted to make sure he could win the championship with a flourish, certainly not behind Biaggi..and recklessly wiped out his last "buddy" on the track.
The powers that be have ruled it a racing incident, denying Honda's protest.
Bullshit as usual. He's the best rider. but he's a jerk.
(end Rant)
Hopkins did very well in a dry race. |

| Re: Motegi Spoiler I saw the Rossi wreck as a **** happens accident.
Now if Hayden would ever start getting up front it would be good. He seems to be getting better but not quite good enough or consistant enough yet. I was hoping the win at Laguna was going to put some fire in his riding but not yet it seems.

| Re: Motegi Spoiler I agree that the move that took out Melandri was reckless. I may take a flaming for this given Rossi's popularity, but as time goes on I see him less as the fun loving prodigy and more as an arrogant baby. He's obviously an extremely talented and smart racer. It's when things aren't going smoothly that you see a guy's true colors, though, and I think we saw it today. |

| Re: Motegi Spoiler Well at least the race was interesting! The whole Rossi drama isn't what bothers me as much as CEII being in third. That "smoothest rider" has like two races where he was top five and he's third?!?!? Only in the top crust of world riders, can a constant "also ran" be third in points because everyone else who is actually competitive crashes while battling for the lead...
*granted these are generalizations, I understand being consistant, but for crying out loud... he's the luckiest guy who doesn't race up front every weekend. |

| Re: Motegi Spoiler I agree that it was a bit of racing happens but also that Rossi was TOTALLY at fault and riding a bit recklessly.
Also I wonder what would happen if points were subtracted for crashing. If you crash you loose 1/2 the points of your current position, if you crash into someone you loose 1/2 of your points and a 1/4 of thiers. With mechanical failures (obvious and proven on video, ie engine blows and dump oil on your back tire) and being the lead bike in a crash having no points taken.

| Re: Motegi Spoiler When you're always up front, you start thinking everybody is a back marker. And thus, you treat them as such. The problem is that Marco was not a back marker and was riding as fast as Rossi. Rossi needs to think about it while sitting out the next race. Just as the guy in Moto250 will be doing for his asshattedness.
Besides, that will make the rest of the year more enjoyable to watch.
