| Re: Now this would be cool to watch... Sounds like it couldn't be more stacked in his favor either:
The young Aussie would therefore start at his home track in Phillip Island, go to Turkey where no-one has raced before and finish at Valencia—where he has raced on Superbikes.
Go Chris! |

| Re: Now this would be cool to watch... I like Vermuelin and hope he gets his shot.
I heard that Shakey Byrnes was already signed to take Bayliss' ride for the rest of the year. Maybe it'll just be the next two rounds while Vermulin is wrapping up WSBK.. http://www.crash.net/uk/en/news_view...d=6&nid=119074 http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/...?article=24043
Chris is by far the better rider, I think.

Go Chris! | +1. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure Ten Kate Team management are not going to him let do anything to risk the title hunt while there is any chance left. Having watched pretty much all his WSBK races (since early 2004 when they had very poorly developed bike) I really do believe Chris has what it takes to do well in MotoGP: he's fast as hell, said to be just about genious in bike setup/development (Ronald Ten Kate told his comments are about as accurate as the data collectors in the bike), makes very few mistakes, always beats his teammate and bike does not have to be perfect for him to go fast.
If he does not make it into any races this year, at least give him RCV for 2006 |

| Re: Now this would be cool to watch... I didn't notice it saying that Chris V would get Marcos ride anywhere in that article... Quote: Honda rider Marco Melandri is definitely out of Malaysia with 30 stitches in his heel. The good news is that he should be back for Qatar...reliable sources say that Chris Vermeulen will ride
Bayliss's Camel Honda for the last three rounds of the MotoGP season... |

| Re: Now this would be cool to watch... Shakey can only ride for Bayliss at Malaysia and Qatar. Vermeulen is supposed to ride for Bayliss after that, when WSBK is over for the year. Not Melandri. And it would appear that Melandri will ride at Malaysia, as he has already qualified in 9th, ahead of the uninjured Colin Edwards in 10th. |

| Re: Now this would be cool to watch... World Superbike star Chris Vermeulen looks set to switch to MotoGP next season after it was confirmed that the young Australian will take over the Camel Honda RC211V of Troy Bayliss for the Australian GP next week. The news means that Briton Shane Byrne is once again out of work.
</IMG>Bayliss has been out of action since the Japanese Grand Prix after badly breaking his wrist in a motocross accident three weeks ago and was replaced by Byrne, who was out of work following KTM's decision to pull their V5 engines from the MotoGP category.
However, rumours have been rife that Vermeulen, who was until Sunday still in contention for the World Superbike title, would take over the seat for the final two races of the season in Portugal and Valencia with the probability of him stepping up to MotoGP full time in 2006.
His path was aided at the weekend when compatriot Troy Corser wrapped up the title because of the cancellation of the second race at Imola on Sunday due to wet weather. He will nonetheless ride in this weekend's final round of the season at Magny Cours before jetting to Phillip Island for the MotoGP race.
"I'm really excited about the opportunity to ride Honda's RC211V," said Vermeulen. "I had a test scheduled for the end of last season but had to miss that because of an injury, so I'm really happy that this chance has come round again.
"But, to be honest, I'm trying not to think about this ride too much," he added. "I've got one more round in the World Superbike championship for the Winston Ten Kate Honda team. That's my job for next weekend and that's what I'll be focusing on 100%.
"The GP ride is a special, end-of-season bonus for me," he admitted. "I've made no secret of the fact that MotoGP is where I want to go with my career and Honda has the best bike in the championship."
Bayliss is expected to return to the MotoGP paddock for the final round of the MotoGP season at Valencia, but his future in the championship remains bleak as it is reported that Ducati are desperate to get him on their World Superbike next season.
