Set-up is critical. Team engineers are critical. Working with someone you are comfortable with and communicate well with is critical.
BUT, there are always days the champ misses his set-up. And those are the days they really risk their asses and earn their checks. |

But, I'd bet you a steak dinner, guys have won on bikes that weren't as good as some of their competition's they beat. (damn near impossible to quantify I know) |

| Re: What is CE talking about here? Edwards has had some epic moments in racing, notably on the SP in WSBK, and he showed enough courage and determination to win great respect.
But there's no way that he can be compared with Rossi, and the difference is more than the pit crew.
Everyone from Doohan on down says Vale's talent is just in a different league than anyone else, and though I personally don't root for him, it's clear that he's something special.
I think it comes down to this.. No bike is ideally set up for all corners of every track throughout the life of a race tire. But the true champions ride through that ****. And they're comfortable going way out on the farthest edge of physics.
The really good riders can't get comfortable there, and so they don't win as often, or at all.
The irritating riders place blame on things other than their own ability to hang with the truly great, and they diminish our respect for their accomplishments.
Like Biaggi, Gibernau, and Edwards.
2 points:
Nicky and Marco seem to be getting there, Colin doesn't.
If Colin would just shut the **** up and ride as hard as he can, he would do himself a world of good. Or he could go to a series that suits him better. He's still a great racer. |

Can you please tell me 100% when we have seen "all things equal" ???
"Colon has even wrote in his "editorial", that hands down, Rossi is on a different plane"
Ohhhhhhhh OK, so we pick, choose and use what Colin says to support what we want to believe when it suits us, but disregard everything else as bitchin when it doesn't? Cool. I get it now. Colin has also said as have Michelin, that he has on many occasions tested tyres for Michelin through FP sessions so they can find the best tyre for Rossi to use come race time, and come race time those same tyres are "not available" for him, but nah, that can't be.................EVERYONE gets the SAME tyres right? lol |

Seriously, being champion is putting it all together. Others are better than Colin at this. Rossi is a master. At the psych game. At the team game. At telling his mechanics what changes to make...
I agree his Colin's 02 battles where epic. I don't personally actually find talking about changing style here whining. He's taking responsibility himself.
But he does whine lots. If he wants the good tires, go out and earn the damn things! |

| Re: What is CE talking about here? well many would argue if he didn't "earn them" why would Michelin use him to test them for ? I'll get flamed for this, but fuk it. Michelin are the same "mould" Honda are, CUNTS. They do not care one bit who wins etc, they only wana sell tyres, and in racing, they have a very strict heirachy when it comes to who gets what. This happens on a domestic level too, Jungleboy and anyone that is involved in racing here in Oz will tell you, you cannot buy or beg or sell your arse for the tyres that Honda Oz get for Krusty and Josh. BUT Michelin tell you "everyone gets the same tyres" B.S. Now, who is gonna sell the most, of whatever you're selling in GP? Rossi. So who will Michelin supply the best tyres to? Rossi. Yes he's an awesome rider and will go down in the history books as one of if not the best. BUT, take him out of his team, put him on the tyres that the Camel team gets and with the Blata team, he will NOT do as well as he is now. Yeah flame me, who cares? Why do you think WSBK went to a control tyre? Coz basically, Michelin are fukt. And sucked in to them,. I am not blaming Michelin for CE's results before you go down that route, not at all. I'm just saying how it is. Why did Ducati go to Bridgestone? Coz they'd rather have the best tyres Bridgestone have to offer than 3rd or 4th rate Michelins, and it has worked to a degree, on more tracks than we thought at the beginning of the year. But whatever, no mater what any of us say, we'll continue to believe what we believe, so it's pointless. But sooner or later they're gonna have to go control tyre, otherwise it's Michelin dictating who is winning and who isn't. (not all the time, but as a whole) |

Riiiiiiight.

| Re: What is CE talking about here? Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahaha so that isn't how it works? So say yamaha win the Moto GP and there's 5 honda's behind, what? Yamaha don't advertise the hell out of winning the Moto gp, even though honda filled the next 5 spots? You're not the full quid if you don't understand how marketing works dude. Look at ANY advert for tyres, bikes,. etc etc do they say "Honda. Winner (and 2nd Place) WSS championship"?????????????? NOBODY mentions anyone after 1st. You never see an ad for "Dunlop. Hey we didn't win, but we filled the next 5 spots so we can't be all that bad" anywhere do you? Hahahahaha Oh man, this: "I give up. You are way smarter than me." is quite obviously the smartest thing you've said this thread, if that is what you believe. Haha |
