| Valencia - Gold or Gravel for Gibby? OK, this is getting ridiculous. This will be the 20th race since Sete last won, in Qatar last year.
This is the last race of the year, in his home country, on a track on which he has won ( '01, 500cc Suzuki) and placed second '(03 ). Last year he took fourth here. The guy is unquestionably fast, has a great bike and a great team. ( I've been told I don't know **** about tires, so that's a question mark..)
This has to be the time for him to break Rossi's curse, if he's ever going to. Otherwise, he'll be like the Red Sox of MotoGP, but without any of the endearing qualities. If he doesn't win this time, I don't think he'll ever win again. And with Telefonica leaving MotoGP to sponsor fellow Spaniard Alonso in F1, who would want him then?
So, what do you think? Is he too emotionally fragile to win?
What would you see happening if ended up at the front with the Dr, side by side into the last turn. If he gets that far, will he passively accept second? Or would he punt the evil genius into the cheap seats?
Personally, I think Melandri and Hayden will fight it out at the front, with Rossi cruising into third. Sete will get into an inconsequential fairing-bashing match with a Non-Ducati rider (Max?) and take himself out of the race, blaming the world for his woes. |

| Re: Valencia - Gold or Gravel for Gibby? I watched Faster and Faster again last night... I really like Sete and I kinda feel bad for him. He has the talent and the cunning in him to beat Rossi but it seems he's been totally mind****ed. I hope he can pull it together.
edit: he also seems like a super nice dude.

It seems in a few races, particulalry last weekend that he just didn't want to turn the bike and decided to go straight into the gravel trap. It's like he had a brain fart or something.
I can't see him wining this one if he continues with the stupid crap.

| Re: Valencia - Gold or Gravel for Gibby? He'll battle with Edwards for the win, with Edwards just pipping him at the end due to that extra championship mental edge. |

| Re: Valencia - Gold or Gravel for Gibby? I like Sete Givenupnow and its really dissapointing to see that he does have the speed to run with/beat Rossi on occausions only to see him crack under the presure in the last lap or so. Hopefully his home crowd can give him the mental edge he needs |

| Re: Valencia - Gold or Gravel for Gibby? If sete leads ANY lap at all, look for rossi to doubly embarass him in Spain...
I think he is just mentally on the ropes with no chance of fighting back... |

| Re: Valencia - Gold or Gravel for Gibby? IMO sete is passing a serious mind****ing period, he is a great driver though - the only one that challenged vale the two previous series. For sure he didn't forget riding nor did he lose the motive for a world title...but this year VR has the psychological edge, and that counts a lot.
I am stunned when I read comments like "edwards is losing his time in motogp"...."sete is a loser"...."biaggi is useless" etc, remember before making that comment that all these guys are 100 times faster than as and they sould be given the according respect. These kids are way better, sharper, faster and more efficient than any of us sitting in our pc's and spending dozen of days in some trackdays.

| Re: Valencia - Gold or Gravel for Gibby? I have to disagree about Sete's cunning as a racer. He goes out fast and tries to stay out front all the while Rossi just sits back and studies him and then pounces on Sete's weaknesses and wins. Sete needs to dog Rossi around the track then do the pouncing in the last lap or two but he never does it. Sete needs to take some time off, get his head straight, then come back and ride again. In Valencia it is a toss up as to gravel or finish. He could win but then so could 5 other riders. |

s.. | It's their job. They are public figures. Nobody seems to have trouble making fun of politicians like Bush. No pity for them here. If they don't like it, they can go win. |

| Re: Valencia - Gold or Gravel for Gibby? found on another board:
Yamaha compete in corporate racing colors in Valencia
Valencia, Spain 3/11/2005
To commemorate Yamaha's 50th Anniversary and its extraordinarily successful year in racing this season, Yamaha has decided to race the last round of the 2005 MotoGP World Championship in the company's traditional red, white and black racing color scheme. This follows the Yamaha Factory Team's earlier showing of the yellow and black traditional US racing colors in the US MotoGP round at Laguna Seca.
As a result the YZR-M1 machines of Yamaha Factory Team riders Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards will sport the red, white and black colors as seen on many of Yamaha's past factory racing bikes.
In fact in 1975, exactly 30 years ago, Yamaha won its first GP500 world championship with Giacomo Agostini riding the then revolutionary two-stoke OW23 YZR500, also painted in Yamaha's corporate racing colors.
The team will present itself with the riders and bikes on Thursday, November 3 at 17.00 on the main straight for a photo call.
Yamaha has enjoyed probably the most successful year in racing ever, winning no less the seven world titles across the MotoGP, MX1 and MX2 World Championships in truly dominant style. By racing in the traditional corporate racing colors Yamaha endeavors once more to exceed expectations and touch people's hearts, making sure the 2005 racing season will be remembered for a long time to come as Yamaha enters "the next 50". |

| Re: Valencia - Gold or Gravel for Gibby? Colin will only get the leftover paint.
Lack of a clear coat will cause aerodynamic chatter.
He tested this paint earlier in the year, and was unable to get the right setup. |

No...you missed it....during testing earlier this year, he found the right setup...but for some reason this weekend that setup doesn't work.... |
