Doohan didn't have much competition after Rainey and Schwantz left. I lost interest in GP after Imola 93.

I think Rossi would win more than his share against Doohan on both bikes ( depending on which rider was favored by Michelin, of course..)

But if he tried to go after Mick as he did Biaggi after a fairing-banging race, He would have had fewer teeth to look after.

But Rossi's era lacks a main rival. Even with Sete, the battles weren't elbows and paint trading until the very end when Rossi sealed Sete's fate. Doohan was never penalized and given a 10 second ding, only to turn the power up and win by 20 secs.

The 500cc bikes were much closer in performance (for the most part) and the races were a lot combative.

I just watched a few hours of the young Tyson and he would just be waking up about now...Lots of strength, no discipline, limited intelligence, no heart or character.
