Good read, found this on another board. It's an extremely complicated network of sponsorship behind the scenes. No more Camel = Those were always the sexiest bikes on the track. |

Hey BDA!!!!! Quote: |
the Italian journalists who usually know these things say that Rossi will not accept this...some saying that he CANNOT accept this because of a contract or agreement with the Marlboro Ferrari team that prevents him from carrying tobacco signage in 2006 in order to “clean” his image in case he joins the Marlboro Ferrari Formula 1 team in 2007.

The Japanese say that their costs in developing and maintaining these MotoGP prototypes and in running the testing and racing effort, plus signing riders, is so great that the $15,000,000 to $20,000,000 sponsorship deals are “like tips.”

If he somehow gets a ride - which would be based on name and nothing more, he will never win anything.
Well, other than the award for the biggest flop to ever hit F1 since Jacques Villenueve. |

LTL, if you are serious, I'd be completely willing to bet $100 that Vale won't win an F1 race.
Well, that is unless half the field gets taken out by shitty tires manufacturers that won't let their teams run or lots of wrecks.
It cracks me up all the people that claim Rossi is a great driver, all because the myth somehow started by some Italian media group.
He has already shown that he sucks at rally driving, and can't even best Ferrari customer times in Ferrari customer cars on the Fiorano short course.
As for the laughable thought of Rossi actually racing in F1 in 2007 - who will Ferrari replace on the grid ? Will they take him for testing? Perhaps, but they already have a couple excellent drivers testing the cars. |

Hmmm, what are your terms?

That could get really ugly.
Yeah, I guess the actual bet needs to be hammered out. Rossi on the F1 grid for '07 as anything more than a PR stunt? I'd go bigger.
As for Rossi winning an F1 race, I guess it should be time stipulated. How many years should we let it go?
Again, rookie year (like it will actually happen) I'd go big.
If someone actually put up with him for ten years? Possible, so I'd have to go small. |
