AMA Changes

Check out Soup for news releases. Bunch of organizational changes in Pinkerington. Looks promising. Maybe they'll get the rules/classes/rider safety issues sorted.

Re: AMA Changes

The AMA is laughable, tripping over themselves in their haste to run over and **** Harley's ****, as usual. Maybe now they'll allow an ABATE racing class with no helmets?

I like the direction that Buell has taken, and Jamie McNaughton is a local boy, so I wish him success. It should be legal to race that bike in some class, just maybe not one that's based on a street bike.

Why don't they build a street-legal version of that thing and end the controversy?

Re: AMA Changes

The AMA is laughable, but necessary. It seems as if they are trying to straighten up. I've long suspected that the major manufacturers were in bed w/ the AMA BOD and now it seems as if the AMA is trying to remedy that and Honda doesn't like it. Something about all of this feels right.

Just b/c they (the AMA) suck, doesn't mean that they can't turn the ship around.

Re: AMA Changes

No but it REALLY sucks that the AMA sold out to hd/buell so they can get a 'not for use on the street' bike into a class that requires them to be street legal bikes. Kinda the same deal hd pulled by getting the vr1000 legal in POLAND to race it in the USA.

Re: AMA Changes

Good, here's what I would like to see:
Keep the SuperSport pretty much the way it is, it's a pretty good class.
SuperStock should be privateers only. No factory efforts at all. Stay with the 1000s so the speed bumps can ride those bikes in the SuperBike as well - if they can qualify.
SuperBike could maybe relax some of the rules so they had more legal tweaking, like the World bikes. This is where all the factory efforts should be. Change the qualifying terms to keep the barely-there backmarkers out. Waa, deal with it. Oh, and do the two-race deal at each event.
FX should be a more worked version of the 600SS bikes. They really are too close still. Allow them to go to a 650cc, like originally intended, no minimum weight, wide open rules.
That's a start anyway.
