| Re: 2006 Daytona 200 Bob, they should go out there and kick their asses. How many times has Ducati brought a well developed machine out there, only to have it fail? The better riders are on the Japanese bikes.. they're Hardley (geddit?) at a disadvantage, giving up a reputed 20 HP. F'rinstance, how much more fuel do you suppose those Buells will consume versus the 600's? |

The Buell is a bit closer, but has no shot at winning. Unless everyone else crashes and they cut it to 50 miles.
I bet Ciccotto is the highest place Buell at the end of it all.
It also appears that when fully worked (or even mostly worked as in WSS) the CBR is just as potent as the R6. |

| Re: 2006 Daytona 200 I have it from some of the racers there that word around the pits is that they pretty much expect the R6 to clean house. I guess we'll just have to wait and find out. DiSalvo apparently rediscovered himself over the off season and is riding at a whole new ability level. |

| Re: 2006 Daytona 200 I don't think they'll make the whole race... Hell I went to test ride a couple during their Buell dmeo days last year and both the bikes they had were broke already... If their production stuff can't make it thru some test rides then I can't see their hopped up engines having any reliability.
I just want to see Duhamel kick some ass this weekend.

| Re: 2006 Daytona 200 [POSSIBLE SPOILER] **** is he ever tough. He highsided onto his head with a 12 second lead, ran back to the bike, picked it up and finished 5th with no windscreen and his visor flapping. Tough as nails that guy. |

| Re: 2006 Daytona 200 [POSSIBLE SPOILER] Should have been a Honda 1-2-3 with Miguel's lead growing when he went down. He easily could have won that thing by 20 seconds had he not lost that rear. Shame, really, but I bet he tries it again next year.
Yeah, those R6s sure weren't what was expected. Going 0 for 2 in the AMA with the Kwaker taking supersport. They are 0 for 2 with Honda 2 for 2 in WSS as well.
I was a bit surprised to see Hayes on the semi-factory ride beat the full factory Yamahas, though. |

| Re: 2006 Daytona 200 [POSSIBLE SPOILER] AMA Fracked it all up AGAIN!!! Even Dave Despain (announcer) read the rulebook stating how the leaders will be shuffled back up to the lead spost. Everyone from 4th on back was basically a lap down when the green flag dropped again. The Buell never came into play, especially after it frll off the front stand with no wheel on the bike. I give it to Duhamel for riding the same pace with no windscreen and a faceshield that was not attached on the right side. |

| Re: 2006 Daytona 200 [POSSIBLE SPOILER] You cannot purchase one of the Buell XBRR AMA Racers. You can buy any of the Streetfighter style bikes, but Buell does not sell the full fairing XBRR as a steet-legal bike. $30,000 gets you a track-only bike.
That to me says "Illegal".
I used to work at at Harley Dealership (Sadly that was this past Summer). I went there just to try and raise awareness for Buell. The guys that make this brand work are a strange group Coorperately. Harley has been trying to get into Road Racing for years. They have had the Harley VR1000, which would be a great collectors item, but was a loser at the track. Harley has been, in my opinion, cheating at the Drag Strip as well. They are allowed all kinds of advantages that allows them to compete. When Hines revieved a victory all the guys at the shop tried to throw that in my face. It didn't work. I was able to show the old, restricted technology that Suzuki and the other inline-4's are held to compared to the modern-day, Porsche engineered motors that the V-Rod uses. Cheaters.
Don't get me wrong, Eric Buell is a genious. However, I feel that he took a downward spiral in using the H-D Sporty motor to build a Sportbike.
As much as I loath Harley I think that Buell has put together a decent product. If Eric Buell would start using an RC motor or even a TL he would be in much better shape. Even better, "Eric - Design your own Modern Twin. You're a smart guy. Get out of H-D's outdated world." He also needs to get the Sportbike out of the H-D Dealerships. They are killing the bike.
I could rant and rave all day about it.
One more though before I go. The only reason H-D is keeping Eric Buell on their team is to try and inspire younger riders with a different view. They are trying to pull people into Harley using Buell.
I left Harley with a desire to never go back. I'm amazed at the crooked politics that they pull off with money. |
