Yeah, that'll be Rich Oliver. I believe #16 for Yamaha during that era was Kipp, and it's gotta be ~1996 judging by that #5 GSXR.

Close. Rich is number 1, Sixteen was Kipp and the year was 97. Now who is number 5 and number 2 and 8 in the other shot?

Here's a real puzzler: Name the owner of the head in the bottom of the first pic . . .

Colin Edwards? I can't really tell if thats a Yamaha, sort of looks like a zx7. My mom wouldn't even let me ride a bike when that was taken.

Sheesh, I thought I was doing pretty well remembering what I did. I don't know my 250 guys all that well, but could they be Sands and Renfrow? Maybe Wait? I don't remember that many of those guys.
Number 5 on the 750 SS bike is gonna be either Dale or Rich Alexander, right?

Oh man, I'd forgotten about Dax. How could I do that? Another old-school USBA guy.
That page doesn't show the race numbers, though.

Looks like Wait wasn't running 250 in '97 either.

Re: Found some oldies . . .

Number 2 is Randy Renfrow, Number 8 is Leon Cortes (the RS-250 Honda in the garage shots). "Swollen Glands" is out of the picture on the right. Number 145 on the far left is Jeff Voss.

Nope, that isn't Crevier . . . Nor Dale or Rich and he is Canadian . . .

Waitaminute..........that link the gigolo posted doesn't show Kipp in the 750SS race. That doesn't look like a factory superbike to me so it can't be Picotte, can it? Was that pic taken during a practice?

Picotte would have been my guess.

Okay, now I never said any (or all) of the pictures were of the AMA national . . . And no, it wasn't practice and yes number 5 spanked all of the factory bikes in that race (Unlimited Superbike) as well as 2 other races at this event.

and no, that isn't Picotte . . . and that is Kipp on the Superbike (and since it's impossible to tell the inside bike, it's a factory Suzuki with a very unpopular AMA Pro aboard).

I'll have to go with Yates being that unpopular feller, but I'll have to give up on the #5.

If you had looked at the link, you would have notice that Miguel DuHammel (and not Yvonne) was at Mid-Ohio in 97. That was only 9 years ago anway, so I wouldn't exactly call these guys fossils, especially in light of the fact that several are still racing at the Pro level.

Before I tell you who it is, I should really screw everyone up and mention that the Red/White/Blue bike behind number 5 finished second place in this particular race and it was ridden by Brian Gibson.

Just trying to make you feel old.

In '97 I was 15.
