I don't see the AMA adopting a spec tire either.

Agreed. Sounds like everyone likes the idea of standardizing the series, but nobody's working towards it .

Edit: And for the record, I think specifying a tire Mfr in WSB was a huge mistake.

Just pick 2 figures: Max HP and minimum weight

Have every bike roll over the scales and onto the dyno on the cool off lap. end of story . . .

Interesting.....but it wouldn't it be easy to cheat on the max hp end of the equation?

Actually that's a great idea. That's what Formula USA does.

This is the most effective way to level the field.

That's definitely the way to level the field. But I'd like to see something that still encourages development of production bikes. Maybe that's what GP is for? (in a trickle-down sort of way)

How easy would it be to flip a map switch before entering the dyno? Very.

Ummmmm---'punted'---you must mean like the year before---so Yes i think hes gonna get hella--punted by both Bostrom on the Kawasaki, Roberts on the RCB, Bostrom on the RCB, and Duhammel on the RCB------thus the whining

BTW--Honda HAS to run the RCB1000 next year sos folks will buy it to be like the 'big boys'--ie every race-replica needs a race

What will happen to the RC???---Who Cares

ummm, not if the bike cleared the 'no switch' part of tech before the race. This can be (and has been) done successfully in several different organizations.

Someone with the resources of the AMA would be able to correlate unusually high trap speed and low post race dyno figures with a full on inspection for the couple of bikes that appear suspicious.

Ouch. $95 for the three book set. I'll have to ask Santa.

There are some excerpts on his website. Here's one about the 'Mexican Road Race'. Not technical at all but entertaining reading.

Eric 'I can't seal the deal' Bostrom is going to win the championship over Mladin?

No...wait....Ben 'I haven't won on a Honda this century' Bostrom is going to win the championship over Mladin?

And the best...Kurtis 'I've NEVER won a superbike race' is going to beat Mladin?

How about this...a friendly wager to be payable at the end of the 2004 season. I'll take Suzuki and you take Honda. If Suzuki wins (Any Suzuki), you owe me $10 for that race. If Honda wins (any Honda), I owe you $10 for that race.

Or if you want to go bigger odds, I'll take Suzuki and you can take the entire rest of the field. The difference being if any Suzuki wins, you owe me $40, but if any other manufacturer wins, I owe you $10 (only fair considering the odds).

And I don't think that the Duhamel quote about what's coming from Honda can really be interpreted as a new CBR ready to race. I think Ho's logic of needing it there to make sales holds more water.

Yep. The aero drag of a bike is fairly consistent, so all they have to do is measure a rate of acceleration over a distance, and they can get a pretty good idea of Hp.

You're counting on the people that can't figure out timing and scoring to accuratly project HP based on rate of accelleration?

Youre on---how about $10 for every Honda that places before a Suzuki and vice versa for you (in the top 3)---this allows me to leverage my financial gain

For example
Bostrom
Duhammel
Msladin
--You owe me $20

or much less likely
Msladin
Yates
Roberts
---I owe you $20

Re: Mladin is whining again

Sounds intriguing, but I can't commit to that yet. If I knew the final factory lineup Suzuki was running, I could say yes or no. But as it stands right now, Mladin's in for Superbike, but Yates is a questionmark (he tested the Suzy superbike at Daytona recently lending creedence to the possiblity of him not running Superbike next year). So, if Mladin were the only Factory Suzuki, you're proposal would hardly do me any good (unless Honda were still to run the 51...then I'd take all of that action because of the privateer Suzy's).

COOL!!! I'm already looking forward to '04 and '03's not even done yet!
