And good on Mat Mladin for not making excuses and admitting that he didn't have anything for Spies.

Re: AMA Fontana

It appeared Mladin tried the same thing he did at Daytona by letting him by, expecting to pass him later after seeing where he was slow - only to have the kid run off and hide! I did find that watching these races after the MotoGP races was not a good idea - a snoozefest by comparison.

I hate tracks like that. Much better racing on a real road course.

Dumbest place to race a motorcycle on this side of the pond, IMHO. Isle of Man/Macau are ridiculously dangerous, but at least fun to watch.

Heh.

I've never ridden Fontucky, but have worked as crew there and the rider liked it.

It does look a little spooky pointing your bike straight at a wall WFO at either place though.

Re: AMA Fontana

Gateway (St. Louis) isn't nearly as high-speed at Fontana, but the transitions up onto the banking can cause some puckering moments.

Re: AMA Fontana

I had a great time at Fontana last weekend! Got to watch from the announce tower for a bit (what up Mr. Spencer, lol) then met some of the racers.... all while hanging with good friends. Haven't ridden the track yet however & it's in my back yard. Sometime I guess...... They definately need to do some work on the loud speakers, can't hear a word from the infield stands.

Once Spies got back past number 1 there was no way to catch him.

Re: AMA Fontana

The races weren't that much fun to watch. Suzuki has the other manufactures by the short and curlies. Just boring, at least there's someone else up front to race with Matt. Yates is still a B-Class rider in superbike and continues to pull bone head moves like at Barber.

Until the other manufactures step it up, the AMA is a one horse show.

Ducati must get a new bike for next year, period, if they want to compete. Bayliss is a freak on a Duc and he over rides that thing, at some point this year it will bite him. Hopefully he'll be far enough in the lead with points that it won't hurt too much. But for the AMA, the Duc's don't have the support or the muscle to be competitive.

American Honda is probably second guessing themselves for seperating from HRC and wanting to develop their own bikes. Kawi is doing damn well for their first run in years, but Yamaha continues to play in their sand box by not showing up.

Bwhip is right - snoozefest indeed!

I gotta tell ya, spies is making mladin look like, well, duhammel...

He really did have nothing for him. And Mladin, unlike his normal smooth, semi-error-free self, was making mistakes left and right... Wow, two weekends back to back loaded with mistakes trying to catch the young texan!

Here's hoping spies keeps it on two wheels and injury free!

I just wanted to point out that if you scroll through this thread looking only at avatars, you get a pretty nifty race replay effect. With a couple oddities thrown in.
