Thinking you're on a crap bike isn't going to help, thinking you're on the ace bike will.
I think this has always been a part of Honda's success...the reputation they have which even their riders buy into. |

| Re: SPOILER: 2006 China MotoGP Confidence can be a huge part of it, but I wouldn't give that much credit to a "Honda placebo". The RCV flat seems to work better than the Suzuki.

| Re: SPOILER: 2006 China MotoGP Like they kept saying in Faster, it's 8/10 rider...the bike is important, but I'd take a Schwantz on the Suzi over say Gibbers on the Honda anyday. |

| Re: SPOILER: 2006 China MotoGP I had read somewhere that Suzuki doesn't really spend too much on MotoGP and doesn't really care because they do so well in AMA and WSBK and those are the bikes that get sold.
I was saying all along that Pedrosa was gonna be one to watch out for. I also said he won't be very close to the championship this year but I think he is a future champion. Stoner and Pedrosa are gonna make for some really good racing in the coming years.

| Re: SPOILER: 2006 China MotoGP All kidding and trash talking aside, Suzuki has stepped up their game considerably from the first two races of the year. I had heard that they brought or will be bringing in the head of the GSX-R program to head up the moto-gp effort. Makes sense to move someone who is responsible for one of the most sucessfull bikes and racing program's into their top level. |

Originally Posted by phobiaphobe Got a link? | Couldn't find one, but the rags all reported in one fashion or another how he battled up front mid season (after signing with Suzuki because Honda and Yamaha passed on him) and when he backed off he started looking down at the engine every lap when he went by pit row. At the end of the this particular race he stopped in the back section and wound the thing up until it spewed the cranskhaft all over the track. When he came back in he "claimed" the bike blew up 10 laps earlier and that he had to nurse it around the track.
The fact of the matter is that he felt he should have been the number one rider for Suzuki, but they had this guy named Kevin that kept winning races and didn't pay as much attention to little Johnny and evidently that really bothered him.
Kevin on the other hand, took the same bike (a 250 which he never raced for Suzuki) and broke the track record on the same track a few days after the "breakdown".
You really have to want it in order to make it happen.
I guess he showed them what was what . . . |
