Re: Rossi ready to threaten Doohan’s records this week

From MotoGp.com

Quote In what is becoming a yearly treat for avid MotoGP fans, Valentino Rossi is on the record-breaking trail once more. The Italian claimed his 54th career win several weeks ago in Brno and that places him level with five-time World Champ Mick Doohan.

Rossi is, of course, a four-time title winner across all three classes and amazingly he is still only 24 years of age. The ‘Doctor’ is currently nine months younger than when Doohan notched his first GP success in Hungary in 1990. If the Honda man gains another top three result this weekend at Estoril then he will again eclipse a record held by Doohan; that of 17 consecutive podium finishes.

Rossi has climbed onto the rostrum at every GP in the last 12 months and is now ready to mark his name in the record books again at a circuit where he won in 2002.

Giacomo Agostini stands outright as the rider with the most GP wins (122, 68 in 500cc and 54 in 350cc) and also the most podiums in a row (22 achieved over 1967, 68 and 1969). Rossi is fourth in the ‘victories league’ and still has time to catch Mike Hailwood in third (76) and possibly even Angel Nieto in second (90).

The last race was spectacular in Brno, this weekend should be great as well. *I'll post 1st qualifying tomorrow am.

Re: Rossi ready to threaten Doohan’s records this week

I have really enjoyed MotoGP, but for some reason, AMA has been more entertaining. I think I like that fact that the AMA guys are not so hugely popular that they are untouchable. I have a chance at meeting them. My chances of meeting Rossi or even Nicky (now) are slim.

Rossi is amazing though.

I didn't mean to start a debate. And I agree Bruno was an awesome race. I'm also sick of seeing Mladin win. It was great to see Super Chicken win one. I think it comes down to coverage also. You many more racer interviews, shots of people in the paddock etc than the MotoGP races. The races themselves are better in GP, but I like the way AMA is covered better.

Just my opinion.

Oh, and hey boof:

Heavy, just go to MotoGp.com and purchase the full deal, full access, whatever it's called. It's like 15 or 20 Euro for the whole frikkin season. That coverage compared to AMA coverage is like Jesus to Baketech
