Unsteady weather at Mugello on Friday looks likely to Camel Yamaha's Colin Edwards to stick with the 'old' YZR-M1 chassis for this weekend's Italian Grand Prix.

The Texan had been planning to race the promising new frame, as used by team-mate Valentino Rossi last time out at Le Mans, for the first time this weekend - but the most likely scenario is that he will now revert to the original chassis before continuing development on the modified version with a view to the next race in Catalunya.

"We've been playing around a little bit with the new chassis but I need more time in the dry to set it up before we can start to work with it properly," explained Edwards, tenth fastest at the end of day one. "We didn't get enough of a chance at the Le Mans test because of the weather and it seems to have chased us over here. I don't want to have to start all over again in the morning so I think the best thing for us is to go back to what we know for tomorrow.

Rossi will win, pending hardware cooperation. Stoner and Pedrosa will continue to contend and one will podium. Nicky will podium but not win, and be disappointed but pleased with his standings in the championship.

Hard race and seadson to call. Can't go down party lines like we used to. Rossi is mad and has a right to be, he'll come out swinging at the "Home Track" for his team. Edwards will show good form, but it will only get him mid-pack results.

Nicky should do well, he usually steps it up for race day and he's been good at Mugello. So a podium for sure.

I want Stoner in last podium spot open. I think that kid is awesome and he's close to Pedorsa for Rookie of the year. I'll say it again, he's my pick for that spot. Dani doesn't have legs yet. Stoner has always done well with lesser equipment.
