| Re: SPOILER - Assen It's a good thing Nicky hit a false neutral and missed the corner while trying to lunge inside on that last chicane, otherwise the Tornado would have swept him up. Colin's line was supposed to have been "defensive." Edward's pace at the end was remarkable, but reckless. I'm glad Nicky won.
And Pedrosa's morose attitude at the podium interviews is really annoying me. He referred to "Colin and Hayden." Like he's not on a first name basis with his "team mate?" Little ****er needs a spanking. Can't wait till HRC gives him the team orders in a few races.. that ought to put him on Prozac. |

One hell of a race. I am going to watch it again tomorrow.

Yeah, I was yelling at the TV at the end, and then a cutaway, and Edwards was in front, and I was like WTF, and then I thought damn, it'll be a 1-2 American thing anyway, and then "nooooooo". I literally felt kind of bad for the guy, and then I thought "what an ass".
Correct me if I'm wrong, wouldn't that have been his (CE's) best finish of the season? I mean, damn, let the points leader have it....

Really, I thought about that... I could only imagine what was going through CE's mind (besides a whole lotta sand) when he binned it.

| Re: SPOILER - Assen Wow, that was CRAZY! I really really wanted to hear both Hayden and Edwards post race interviews. I haven't seen any links to some of the post race comments, but here's my view;
Win it or bin for Edwards and just pure rotten luck/bad decision.
Both racers ran off the track, only Hayden took the straight line (almost conceding the victory) and Edwards tried to TURN (in the grass) as he went off the track! That's what tossed him. I watched the recorded race over and over. I just don't know if Edwards had enough track even if he didn't try and turn it in the grass.
Did anyone else notice Nicky looked a little shaken up during the interview?
That race is a keeper on my DVR. Edwards was amazing to retake the lead after running it off with 2 laps to go, (anyone count the number of racers who ran off the track? Rossi, Hayden, Edwards, I think there were 2 more as well).
I really hoped Hayden wouldn't just take 2nd (for points), or "give" one away to Edwards. That took guts, knowing all those points were already his.
That was incredible! |

| Re: SPOILER - Assen Hayden stalked him all race and made a good pass in the closing laps that rattled CE to the point of running off. The "race" was won at that point...the rest was Nascar bullshit...
In other words, is it really that amazing to make up the ground using the escape road, and then force a bad pass that he had no chance of ever holding the line...
It's this kind of crap that keeps me from being a Tortoise fan....

It's this kind of crap that keeps me from being a Tortoise fan.... | I'm not so sure about all that. Nicky increased his lead after Edwards ran it wide and off the track. He just came back like a bat out of hell. I think BOTH riders were at maximum adrenalin and Edwards just went a little over his head (ha ha, no pun intended).
Your comments could have been about Nicky as well. There's no way he could have kept that outside line pass and stuck it back into the turn. Hayden was going off the track, period. But, he did spook Edwards who didn't anticipate Hayden's outside pass attempt. Edwards lack of experience in MotoGP front running probably did him in. Too much adrenaline. He almost won his first ever MotoGP.
I couldn't believe the last lap. Could Edwards have settled for 2nd? Yea. But Hayden also could have settled for 2nd. This was Hayden's best chance to win (1st place) and Edwards only real chance to win his first ever MotoGP. |

Bottom line, if he didn't take the shortcut, he would have never been able to attempt another pass on Hayden...

| Re: SPOILER - Assen I had the feeling during the last stages of the race that it was Nicky's race to win. Colin was riding very smooth at the front, but you just knew that Nicky was going to take it from him. It was Rossi-esque; where it's not a question of "if" he's going to get around but "when". Of course, the field wasn't at 100%, but it still might be a turning point for #69.

| Re: SPOILER - Assen fo rizzle. If hayden places well or wins in the UK, and he normally does pretty well in germany, watch out when the train rolls to laguna! Could very well be a turning point for him...
42 points is a nice lead... 9 races to go, it's still rossi's to win IMHO. And I agree, how long until pedrosa gets told to not get in the way of hayden, but to get in the way of rossi? |
