Re: Motegi FP1

Actually, he's probably playing with soft wet weather settings due to the fact that there is a typhoon due to hit any time now.
Hell, the race may even be called off. The practices don't really matter at all until the rain starts gushing down.

Then again, with the previous idiocy shown with practice=qualifying, maybe he should push it next go-round.

Pretty big gap between Rossi and the rest of the field. Imagine how it would be if he actually liked the track!

Re: Motegi FP1

Yeah, a handful of the guys threw on qualifiers at the end of the session again not knowing what the weather will hold.
It was amusing watching the live timing and seeing guys pit, run a slow lap and then a flying lap right there in the last 5-7 minutes.
Now that a stupid precedent has been set, if there is any hint of rain, the last few minutes of all the practice sessions will turn into qualifying at each round.

Amazing that you would actually have to say it. But if you didn't, you'd get alot more, "Look how much faster Rossi is than the rest of the field."

World weather says mostly cloudy for the next 6 days. Is that what Japan calls a typhoon? I know they are used to bad weather but Dayam!

Re: Motegi FP1

That's funny. After calling the guys that ran a "Q" at the end of FP2 "chickens", Capi goes and does the same thing when some others don't (but a few still do) and ends up the fastest of "the chickens"
Hopefully they actually have a QP session this round.

I really would like to know what was said during this conversation:

Soup :: Friday Images From Motegi MotoGP

I like SOUP's quote: "Perhaps you have not seen my rule book where it says it's okay for me to pass on yellow, no?" It is funny if you think about Rossi's English too.

Re: Motegi FP1

Warm up just got over, and it looks like Nicky's team has found something to help with with the rear wheel feel.
Turning consistent fast times, looking pretty decent for the race. He just needs a good start now.
It also appears the typhoon has taken a turn and may not come into play.
Capirossi had the fastest time, but overall his times were comparable with Nicky's. Rossi must have been screwing around and sandbagging or something, as his times were also consistent, but consistently slower than the top few.
Roberts and Gibbers ran a fast lap there at the end, but Gibbers was back the entire time until then. Roberts seemed to be consistent, though.
Pod was a complete non-factor. Must be saving himself for the race.
