Mid-0 Pics. You guys have to see this...

Soup :: Thursday Mid-Ohio Images Sept 2006

1. Okay, Rachel Hacking is painfully hot. I mean damn.
2. Carbon fibre bits on the R6 FX bike. I'm tempted to pull a BDA on one of those.

Sorry, not sure when I turned British. Must've been from reading about Bake's trip accross the pond.

Are you going to the races, HD?
Take a good long look at the Honda and Yamaha FX bikes. While they are both absolute works of art, the Honda had SO many more trick bits and just looked about twice as expensive.

Planning on it right now. We are running that marathon tomorrow morning. When is the FX race. Hopefully it's on Sunday, but I don't think so. I've got **** loads of homework to do and class next week. Finals after that. So.... I need to use my weekend wisely otherwise I'd go down Saturday and camp or something. Next year I will.

Honda has all those trick bits, b/c they need them.

Mladin Heads First AMA Superbike Practice Session Friday At Mid-Ohio News Article // RoadracingWorld.com

Looks like the cold temp is leveling the playing field. The track is still pretty green, but this weekend should be sortof interesting. Ben doesn't have to push at all and probably won't. So maybe there will be a battle at the front.

You serious? The 06R6 has been all hype and the Suzuki is a speed bump to the Honda.
Look at the curb weights of the four '06 bikes combined - as in the actual weight with fuel ready to go, and you'll see that the Honda is a whole 6 pounds heavier than the Yamaha, the Suzuki is two pounds heavier than the Honda and the Kwaker is the same weight.
The Honda is by far the best FX bike out there. The '07 will make the rest look even more stupid.
That Yamaha is nothing.

Where are the weights of the factory race bikes published? How many races did Eric win this year as opposed to Hayes?

No, I mean the bikes off the showroom floors with a tank of Gas.
Eric is a far better rider than Josh. Even Josh knows that, but he has done what he needed to place himself in the position of winning the title.
Seriously, at Miller it was fun watching the Hondas of both Hayes and Gobert absolutely destroy the Yamahas.
They looked far more stable in the corner, looked better on the corner entry as well and ran away from the Yamaha down the long straight.
Eric is an extremely talented rider, but his Yamaha couldn't even run with Gobert - a FAR less talented rider.
DiSalvo, well, is DiSalvo. Matches the bike perfectly.

That doesn't mean ****. We're talking about factory FX bikes here. Mini-superbikes man. Did you *see* the dash on the Yam FX bike? Selectable maps?!?! Come on! I'm sure the Honda has it too, but I haven't seen it and therefore can't drool over it.

Regardless, that R6 is a damn sexy bike.

BTW, I have a sneaking suspicion that Hayes is going to pull of the championship. I'm actually rooting for him. Even though I'm pissed at Honda.

Oh, I know in the FX world the OEM stats don't matter. I'm sure the FX bikes weigh within a pound of each other. There is a minimum weight, and the factory bikes most likely hit that on the head.
Yeah, the Honda had a selectable map feature. Those engine management systems are crazy cool.
I'm pulling for Hayes as well. Although that may make the prices of those bikes much higher - and maybe even make them unobtainable as some other FX team may take them first.

I was a bit off on my OEM figures, though (and this was without fuel):
At any rate, the Honda isn't nearly as "overwiehgt" as some would lead to believe.
The Sportrider figures pretty much tell the same story, except they have the 600RR at 402, ZX6R at 404 and GSXR at 411 - and I don't think they swapped to a control tire.
And the Honda exhaust from the midpipe up to that can clear up high and in the back weighs a crap-ton. Having that weight down low is a far better idea.

*weighed with identical Dunlop Qualifier tires.

Pretty easy to shed weight on a Honda... Just changing to a slip-on and getting rid of all the heat shield and mudflap crap should drop 5-8 lbs alone.
