| Explicit pictures of the RC211V engine NWS!!!! ..including #22, the mysterious clutch that is giving Nicky fits. plus gear driven cams, etc.. you must be 18 years old to see these.. pure sex.
If the link doesn't work ( and a mod doesn't fix it) go to www.crash.net , follow the menu to MotoGP news and find the article MOTOGP: PICTURES: Inside the Honda RC211V.: Latest Motorsport news, results with radio player
#24 - you call those pistons? there's nothing there!

The RC30/RC45/older VF's have a 360 degree crank, pistons rise and fall together kinda like a pair of old British twins in a 90 degree V, but only one bank at a time is at TDC. |

The pics are pretty cool, but it's obvious that an engineer took them or at least had a say in what was published... Take the piston/rod photo...seems like they took that in a manner that the perspective keeps you from knowing the relative size of the pistons...
Nice link...

| Re: Explicit pictures of the RC211V engine NWS!!!! For sure Bake. Clever angles, the piston diameter between the carbon and angle is tiny looking.
Two things that stood out.
Very small main diameters to keep the oilspeed down.
MONSTER rods. Holy **** those things are HUGE! That surprised me considering lightening rods up sure "pays" well. |

It's almost like the middle front piston runs around separately, almost as a counterbalancer.
The solid con-rods look burly... Think they're hollow? |

| Re: Explicit pictures of the RC211V engine NWS!!!! Early speculation about the bore size and cylinder layout was similar to the RC45 with an added cylinder. Looking at the crank now, at least one of those is true. RC45 dimensions are 72mm x 46mm. |

In any case, you can still go to crash.net, find the motogp home page, and the article is still in the News section. Within the article is a link that says "click here to see all the pictures." They're all still up. |

| Re: Explicit pictures of the RC211V engine NWS!!!! The problem is that they use the ~ (tilde) symbol in their URL string.
When linked, it is translated from ASCII to its HEX code and replaced with a %7E in the URL string, making it worthless.
If you click that link, then change all %7E values to a ~, the page displays properly.
Sorry about that. Had a geek moment. |

| Explicit pictures of the RC211V engine NWS!!!! So I guess Honda was willing to let the cat out of the bag if they allowed all those pics to be published/posted. They probably wouldn't mind it so much considering it'll have its last run at Valencia on Oct 29/06 making way for the development of the 800cc V4. Still looks very impressive lots of shiny part, I like the anodized cam gears and even the lobes looks polished. |
