AMA Mid-O discussion / spoilers

I feel bad for any fans that actually made the trip out and purchased tickets. The way Barrick and Co. run the AMA racing into the ground is a shame.
Will those that paid for tickets get reimbursed?
Will the AMA finally wake up and realize its racing arm needs a complete sacking?
This whole weekend has been a sham. Now the first heat race has started with only 6 riders. No factory teams are running. The AMA cut it from three heats and an LCQ to dropping the LCQ. Then they cut it to just two heat races with the top ten going on to the final. Looks like all six that started get to be in the most expensive club race ever.
The only race that seems to actually mean anything this weekend is the FX race. The Superstock and Supersport titles are already decided, the factories sitting out Superbike means it is done as well - unless Spies and Mladin take a "provisional" and line up for the final, which is doubtful.

When will the AMA stop hitting the snooze button on the alarm and actually wake up to fix the problem?

Re: AMA Mid-O discussion / spoilers

Lots of rain, and the AMA and track are pissing off all the riders.

Oh, and FX title goes to Hayes after beating the Yamaha big time yet again.

Now there is talk of some compromise with the riders and factories after a total of ten backmarkers ran between the two heats and "qualified" for the Superbike main.
All in all, a complete disaster of a weekend.

I didn't go either. Too much homework and work on the bike to do to get ready for next weekend. Also, *really* sore from the marathon yesterday.

I can't believe I'm going to say this..... But you're right!

I was friggin screaming foul when he did that. WTF is a champion doing making a bone headed "Yates" type pass. I think he went in too hot and used Eslick as his bumper. Why though? He had nothing to prove out there and ruined Eslick's chance on the factory bike. What a tool. He just lowered my opinion if him.

At least when he came back around on the next lap and saw the bike lying there, he (Hacking) showed some remorse by shaking his head as if to say, "Oh crap, I caused that?!?" Yes you did you A-hole and we missed the oppurtunity to see what Eslick can do.

That was totally Yates-like, and really a shame. I like that Eslick kid and wanted to see what he could do on the factory ride.

Props to Jason Pridmore on his retirement. A good guy and a class act.

I dunno. I watched the pass over and over and I don't think it was *dirty*. It was bone headed maybe, but not dirty. Looked like Hacker got in a bit hot and stood the bike up to keep from losing it and taking them both out, then his bike touched Danny's handlebar putting him down since he was at full lean.

It sucks, I wanted to see Danny give the yosh bike another go. **** happens though.

Dirty no, completely not needed by the guy who won the championship and didn't have to race, yes! Rossi has made those types of passes before, you know the kind. The kind where he was esstentially making a straight line into the turn and uses the other guy as his braking marker. He practically T-boned Danny.

**** happens, but Hacking knows how to ride better than that. I mean the guy won two championships.

That's not how I saw it. They were both in the turn hard. Danny at full lean/apex. Hacking still trying to "whooooaaaa" the thing. From the onboard camera you can see Hacking's bike wobble and stand up just a bit before they come in contact. It was agressive for sure.

Congrats to Josh!!!!

Hacking has mentioned Eslick by name quite a few times this year. Saying he was wild and got caught behind him and was held up. Might have been a little pay back.

Eslick, who is highly overrated, has ridden over his head damn near all year long. He got what he had coming to him, and what Hacking did was not intentional...it's called racing.

That may be good for NASCRAP, but not appropriate in Motorcycles. I mean, sleep with the guys girlfriend and drink his beer, but no crashing into him...

Even in Supermoto we have rules!

Re: AMA Mid-O discussion / spoilers

Long ago and far away there was a WERA Formula Extreme championship at Road Atlanta and Michael Martin was just barely leading Dale Quarterly in points. During the final 2 laps, Quarterly decided to "occupy" the same space as Martin about 5 times while wagging his elbows in Martin's face. Coming under the bridge to the flag while Martin was leading, Quarterly just flat out ran Martin off the track with his right elbow firmly planted in Martin's face.

After the race, Quarterly (who beat Martin to the line by about .001 seconds) was all excited and telling everyone how cool it was with all the "banging elbows and everything".

Martin saw it another way, but being a decent guy didn't file a protest even though Quarterly had been warned about a dozen times during the season.

Although nothing really bad happened in that particular race, earlier that day in one of the Suzuki challenge races, 2 racers were paralyzed from an incident involving exactly the same crap.

This is the kind of stuff that gets people hurt . . .

And just because professionals are generally good enough to deal with it doesn't make it right.

I didn't see the incident, so won't comment on it. I can agree with an earlier comment that a bone head move has no business on the track (maybe Nascar since that is what all the "fans" are there for ) and when there is nothing to be gained except a little "I showed you" talk back in the paddock, is just plain dumb.

Hacking got a little payback from DiSalvo in the Superstock Race, and then went into full bitch mode. I didn't think it was DiSalvo's fault - they both went into the same spot and ran out of room.

Really interesting article.

The News Journal - www.mansfieldnewsjournal.com - Mansfield, OH

Quote:
Formula Xtreme riders Josh Hayes and Eric Bostrom -- a pair of straight shooters and longtime riders who had no reason to break from their ranks -- said the surface was fine, and they were racing as hard as anybody ever has at Mid-Ohio just minutes after the Superbike riders boycotted the heat races.
Many of the WERA guys that were there the weekend prior held the same view.

Quote:
The riders were out of line this weekend, but Mid-Ohio and the AMA didn't help the cause.
